In J. Lynn’s fourth offering in her young adult series, FALL WITH ME is the story of bartender extraordinaire Roxy and Officer Reece Anders, who she has been in love with since she was fifteen.  Almost a year ago, Reece got drunk and let Roxy take him home.  Not realizing that Reece was quite that far drunk, Roxy threw caution to the wind and finally kissed him.  Things heated up real fast and then he promptly passed out.  When Reece mistakenly and very regrettably thought they had slept together, Roxy’s feelings were hurt and she failed to correct his mistaken impression.  Almost a year later, Roxy is still trying to find a way to let Reece know his guilt is misplaced.  The problem is that Roxy still wants Reece and the whole thing is making her crazy.  But now, Roxy’s past has come back to haunt her and she needs Reece’s police skills.  Reece knows he has messed up with Roxy, but he isn’t about to let anything bad happen to her again on his watch.

J. Lynn’s FALL WITH ME had everything you look for in a good new adult story; both main characters are past the teen years but not quite settled into their adult lives yet.  The characters are strong but flawed and looking for answers.  There is a story within a story and there is a teaching moment involved.  The story is emotional and funny, flirty and fun.  The lesser story was important to Roxy’s character development and added depth to her storyline with Reece.  J. Lynn has a way of pulling her audience into her stories and making them come to life for readers in a way that simply makes you want to come back for more.  These books are not intricate storylines with twisting and turning plotlines.  They are simply good becoming young adult stories that just about anyone can relate to and that is what makes them so enjoyable to read.

Readers looking for some light but enjoyable reading material to peruse poolside will find FALL WITH ME just what they are looking for this summer.

In WAIT FOR YOU, Jennifer Armentrout, writing as J. Lynn, ventures into the New Adult genre.  Avery Morgansten traveled across the country to escape her past and build a new life when she started college.  All she has to do is show up for class on time, make sure her bracelet remains securely on her wrist and keep to herself.  Of course, on her first day of class, as she is running late to class, Avery literally runs into the hottest guy in the school, Cameron Hamilton.  And for whatever crazy reason, Cam takes an interest in her.  Now, just when Avery’s new life seems to be taking a positive turn, she starts getting threatening emails and phone calls.  Someone is refusing to let her past fade away.

This reader almost always enjoys a good new adult story and WAIT FOR YOU was no different.  These stories all seem to bring back memories from when we were teenagers growing up; all that teen angst, the worrying, the drama, the emotional highs and lows of growing up and mostly all those hormones!  J. Lynn does a terrific job of describing a young girl’s first time away from home, living on her own and all the scary emotions that come with it.  As we see the way Avery’s emotional growth unfurls as the story progresses and she starts to trust  in Cam and build a relationship with him, memories from our own college days come flooding back.  While it is true that Avery’s big secret was no big surprise really, Lynn did a wonderful job of writing about the experience and its aftermath for both Avery and even Cam.

J. Lynn’s WAIT FOR YOU is one young adult story this mother of two teenagers would be pleased to see her own teens reading.  There are some stories that are just plain enjoyable to read without being full of smut and foul language.  This is one of those really fun and enjoyable books that young adult readers can both relate to and enjoy.

Vampire Graf McDonald is on his way to a party when he makes a wrong turn and ends up in a small town that has a BIG problem. Penance, Ohio is a place where you can enter but never leave and the residents there are not happy to see this newcomer. Missing people, a monster terrorizing the town and a town full of suspicious residents leaves Graf dealing with issues and a lusting for sexy Jessa, a woman who is either his salvation or his doom.

AMERICAN VAMPIRE is not your usual vampire story. It has a dash of horror thrown in the mix and it has characters you seriously want to kill-in the beginning anyways. Ms. Armintrout delves into a story that will have you on the edge of your seat and anxious to see what happens next for Graf, the vampire hero. It’s funny, intriguing and one of those stories where we could go either way-either we love him or hate him-the hero, Graf.

Ms. Armintrout does a really good job in creating a fresh, new story in the overdone world of vampires and paranormal romance. I found it quite refreshing to read this latest book from one of my favorite authors.

AMERICAN VAMPIRE introduces you to vampire Graf McDonald, a lover of fine clothes and vintage cars. He is unconcerned about anything except getting to his Sire’s wild fourth of July party when he takes a wrong turn and ends up in Penance, Ohio-a place where you can enter but never leave and has lots of pitch-fork wielding townspeople who hate the sight of Gram, just because he is the first face they have seen in five years.

I loved the dynamics of the entire story. You have a main hero where I never knew if I liked him or wanted to stake him, a town full of residents so distrustful of newcomers; it’s amazing Gram got out of there alive and a mysterious monster terrorizing the place. It had paranormal, horror and a romance that was a bit different than what was out there.

The author’s razor sharp wit was in play as the characters ran along the story as I flipped the pages, giggling one minute and the next cringing in horror. The characters are fresh, intriguing and quite enjoyable once you get into the story. This is an author who really knew her characters well. The secondary characters were also intriguing and kept the story flowing smoothly. AMERICAN VAMPIRE is not your usual vampire romance but one that will leave you breathless at the end. I have got to admit by the time the last page was read, I was ready to read it again.

If you are looking for a different take on vampires, then grab AMERICAN VAMPIRE and settle in for an entertaining ride from author Jennifer Armintrout. I look forward to seeing what else is to come from this author in the future.
