Everyone at Arcanium thought they were safe, at least as safe as they could be under Bell Madoc. I am enjoying each new book in the Arcanium series. As much as Belle twists the wishes of those, he keeps in his circus it does not compare to what other demons want to do to those in Arcanium. One such demon has plotted to take Arcanium from Bell for some time and now it looks like he may have succeeded in doing just that. Those that thought they were safe are now going through torture in the extreme and Neve has caught this demon’s eye. He is pure evil, and she must learn to survive. As Neve learns to bend to his will, she still holds out hope of Bell finding Arcanium and setting them free from this new Hell. This was an interesting turn of events in this series. We see just how strong the bonds are between people and we get to see a tentative bond beginning to grow between Neve and both Sasha and Mikhail. HAUNTED pulls you in right from the start and does not let go until the end. The author does a wonderful job of keeping readers on their toes and giving you the unexpected and fulfilling your hunger at the same time.

Once again, we get to visit with Guard, James and Damien on the beautiful island where fantasies come true.  Another round of fantasies is brought to life in this book and we are treated to seeing the relationship of these three men progress.  This time around the wishes include a foray into pony play, a man new to the lifestyle at being a sub and a man who longs to find something he is searching for since he began dabbling in the lifestyle. Can each of the fantasies that revolve around these things be brought to life and fulfill what the participants want. Along the way will James, Guard and Damien be able to return to the way they used to be?

I am always excited to return to this world and see just what fantasies will be brought to life. It seems that these men have a knack for bringing the right people together and finding love. Each fantasy was an intriguing read. I enjoyed meeting the characters and seeing their stories unfold.  The last fantasy involves a committed couple trying out pony play. I loved seeing the connection that this couple has and seeing their love deepen as they explore together. Another couple has a man who knows nothing about the lifestyle. It was nice to see the interest that Mike shows and the honesty that he shares with his Dom. The last couple has Tim who wants more than he has been finding when he plays at the clubs. Rain has had his eye on Tim for a while now and shows Tim that he has what he needs. Each of these couples grows and forms bonds along the way to finding what they need.  It seems that Guard, Damien and James are not to be left out either.  Damien and Guard continue to fight and will not give up on their love or on James. Emotions are strong throughout these stories and love is there if they would only grab it.

Each of these stories is a fast paced read that grabs your attention and does not let go until the end. The author makes the characters come to life and endear themselves to the reader. I would love to see what has happened in the lives of these and previous characters after they leave the island.

The recent appearance of Levi to their rooms has Stripe, Xeno and Shen confused and on alert. Levi feels a pull to the three shifters right away and especially to Shen but do they feel anything in return? The three are curious and cautiously engage with Levi as he tries to help them get acclimated to being free. Will Shen be the one to unite these four shifters or will the other two find that Levi is not to their liking?  Will Levi put aside his feelings and help Stripe and the others find their way? Will he even have to?

This is a wonderful continuation of Stripe, Xeno and Shen’s story. Now we have added in a new factor; Levi. Shen is the first to act on the draw that they have to Levi. Stripe and Xeno are happy to let Shen investigate but are right there if he needs them. Soon not only are Levi and Shen interacting but Stripe and Xeno join right in.  It was nice to see all the shifters engaging with each other and I love the fierceness that they have in protecting one another. The three have gone through so much and are still fighting to survive yet somehow, they find love and trust not only amongst themselves but with Levi as well.  The attraction is strong between everyone and we watch as trust is earned.

Love can build you up and help hold you up and Xeno, Stripe and Shen fight hard to keep the love that they find. Each man has a strong personality and are strong but together they are even more and add in Levi’s strength and you have a force to be reckoned with. I enjoyed watching the attraction that they share blossom and grow into love and trust that they all share.

Their tale is another great addition to this series and I cannot wait to see what shifters will be in the next story to come out of the OLD TAVERN.

Being one of those people who has to read a series in order, as soon as I received Katee Robert’s FORBIDDEN PROMSIES for review I went back and read the earlier books in the series:  MARRIAGE CONTRACT, MARRIAGE PACT and AN INDECENT PROPOSAL.  I enjoyed both the MARRIAGE CONTRACT and AN INDECENT PROPOSAL, but THE MARRIAGE PACT put me over the top. THAT was a fantastic read and set the bar for any other of Robert’s books that came my way.  FORBIDDEN PROMISES was a decent read, but it didn’t have the same “can’t put this book down” impact THE MARRIAGE PACT had for me.

I never warmed up to Sloan or Jude. While their sex scenes were really hot, I didn’t find their attraction to each other believable.  I liked the premise of Sloan getting away from her family, trying to make a new start…and ending up with a highly unlikely romantic partner in Jude. I admit I did read Robert’s dedication to Brock O’Hurn and never having heard of him before just HAD to Google him. All I can say is ohhhh my.  No wonder Sloan fell for Jude if THAT’s what he looks like. Can we please make this series into a movie and have O’Hurn play Jude?  Please?

Marge, the owner of the town diner, was a hoot and at the same time a solid character I wouldn’t mind seeing again. Dimitri Romanov scared the pants off me in AN INDECENT PROPOSAL and even more so in FORBIDDEN PROMSIES.  Even with minimal appearances the guy creeps me out. 
 
While the earlier books had some hot sex scenes, FORBIDDEN PROMISES crossed over into heavy erotica.

Mac is more than ready to prove that Terrebone has stolen the statue called the Golden Dancer. What he finds is far from what Mac thought he would find and soon Mac begins to see something more than just a thief in Terrebone.  Now what is Mac going to do? He must find the truth of the story as well as the truth of his own feelings but which one will win? Can Mac find a way to have his story and his happy ending or will he lose everything before he can truly have it?

 

Tara Lain weaves a wonderful story in this book. Each of the characters are strong and grow in their own way and together they are unbreakable. Each man compliments the other and is more than ready to support the others. Mac, Daniel and Trelain are wonderful together. Their love is so strong it is almost a tangible thing. I truly enjoyed Mac the most. He grows so much through this tale and must make the hardest or easiest choice of following his heart or letting the best men to come into his life slip away. Daniel and Trelain decide to let their hearts rule and embrace this adventure with everything that they have.  When a threat to Trelain comes Mac and Daniel must rely on one another to get through it. Seeing the three form a bond was a nice read and I especially enjoyed seeing Mac and Daniel find their way. Love is something that should not be ignored and these men learn this lesson the hard way.

Eli has been trying to get Rachel to be more than friends with him for months now but she insists that her jealous nature would only break them up in the long run.  She watches the woman fawn all over him at the bar that he works security at and knows that if they she gave in to her feelings for Eli her jealousy would only get worse and cause him strife. Yet when Rachel needs help she feels safe with Eli. He is more than ready to help her and expect nothing in return. This only adds to the feelings growing in Rachel for Eli.  Will Rachel finally see the benefits of a relationship with Eli or will she lose the best thing in her life right now?

When love comes knocking why ignore it? Rachel has fought hard to keep her feelings for Eli at bay but for what? I enjoyed seeing Eli and Rachel's adventure begin. The two are a good match if only Rachel would stop fighting her emotions. Eli is a good man who has eyes for only Rachel. Once Rachel lets Eli in just a little bit her walls begin to crumble and she sees what she has been missing by pushing him away. The two quickly find that they are a perfect pair and it was nice to see the trust and love shine through in everything that they do. As their story evolves Rachel learns to trust and let people in and especially Eli.

This is only the beginning of their story and I am excited to see what happens next for this couple. The author does a wonderful job of bringing the reader into the world of Divine Creek Ranch and immersing you into an engrossing and beautiful love story.

Alani is a strong woman and has fought hard to be her own person and her inner struggles make this an engaging and enthralling read. Nathaniel is a powerhouse and just what Alani needs. He is a good man who finds more than he bargains for in his latest conquest. It was nice to see the bond form between the two and see just how they each deal with it.

The author does a wonderful job of bringing these characters to life. I was quickly

pulled in to their story tight form the start. Nathaniel and Alani's adventure moves along nicely and kept me turning the pages to see what would happen next.
