Takashi Matsumoto didn’t graduate high school and got caught up with the yakuza and debts. Now he’s in real trouble, the life-threatening kind. He meets up with a former lover, Daisuke, but his life is too messy right now for a relationship. Or is it?

In such a very short word length it’s almost impossible to have characterization, plot and sex. Ms. Dalton has dealt with that problem by leaving the sex as mostly hinted at, and concentrating on Takashi, with other characters merely sketched in, or, in the case of Daisuke, revealed from Takashi’s point of view with dialogue used to hint at more areas to explore.

Thus the author has given us a richly developed, although extremely short, story with hints of Japanese history and fantasy, and an ending that leaves the reader begging to know what comes next. This story functions as the ideal prelude to a much longer book, which I sincerely hope the author is busy writing right now, which will fill in the background of this amazing world and continue on to tell us much more about these people.

THIS IS NOT AN ENDORSEMENT OF THIS BOOK. THIS IS AN OBJECTIVE UNBIASED REVIEW
