McKenzie Shaw is determined to turn her hometown of Haven Point into one of those destination places after the closing of the boat works by Ben Kilpatrick caused serious economic crunch. She knew that with the right business to invest in this town then everything would begin to heal and grow again. Now Ben Kilpatrick is back in town to check out Haven Point as a place for a local facility for his tech company yet everywhere he looks a painful memory is all he sees in Haven Point. Can Ben find a way to put those memories to rest even as he falls for the fiery Haven Point mayor? Will Haven Point be a place for healing or a place to run away from…this time forever?
I love this author’s wonderful spin off from her Hope’s Crossing series and deliver another heartfelt story to fall in love with. With an exceptional cast of characters, a small town that may have its issues but always comes together and a man with a painful history with said town and you get all the makings of a story that will tear at your heartstrings right from the beginning. Ms. Thayne is a gifted storyteller in which she can really let her characters shine through even as a twist or two keeps the reader engrossed. Her characters are life-like, enjoyable and relatable. Her stores are well written, delightfully charming and full of life in a small town. I couldn’t put any of her books down. They draw you in and don’t let go until the very end.
Meet the mayor of Haven Point, McKenzie Shaw. Her adopted hometown has never let her down and now as it’s young mayor she is determined to bring it back to life again even as she tries to reconcile the Ben Kilpatrick of today with the evil man she painted him to be when he closed the boat works and put many out of a job as well as caused economic shambles for the town. I love McKenzie since I first met her in Snow Angel Cove, book one of the series. She is passionate about turning the town finances around, determined to do a good job for the town that accepted her and show the world that Haven Point residents are caring individuals. I love some of the interactions with the local townspeople. She had a way of diffusing the situations she was in with certain individuals and showing that there is good in everyone, even the miserable ones, who wanted to take their bad moods on everyone. The scenes where she showed just what the heart of Haven Point was to Ben were fantastic. I grew up in a small town and this aspect was captured perfectly by the author in my opinion. The heat between Ben and Kenzi were delightful to read. The sparks flying between them were hot and the growing romance between them was a delight to read. Once again Ms. Thayne captures her main characters perfectly upon the pages, showing their vulnerabilities as well as their heart to the readers. I found myself falling in love with these characters all over again and now I can’t wait to see where she goes next in this charming series.
REDEMPTION POINT is more than a small town romance, it is about a town that may have had its share of ups and downs but always comes together either in a crisis or to be a good neighbor. The author does an amazing job in capturing that small town flavor and it transcends the pages perfectly. If you enjoy small town romances than you will love Haven Point and this author’s work. Once you open this author’s books, you won’t want to put it down. I look forward to seeing where she leads us next in this series.
