4 Hearts

Hadley Wells left her home town of Seashell Harbor for the bright lights of Hollywood where success greeted her with a great job and a famous Hollywood actor boyfriend. But when said boyfriend turns out to be a cheater, Hadley heads home to nurse her heart and be with her beloved grandmother. When she arrives back in town, however, things are not quite what she hoped for. Not only has her grandmother had an accident that left her with a broken hip, she is selling her Pooch Palace dog care business.  Even worse, she’s selling it to the worst person imaginable—Hadley’s high school sweetheart—the one who broke up with her with a post-it note.

Anthony Cammareri, aka Cam, has recently returned to Seashell Harbor. Like Hadley he left to pursue his dream—his being a famous tight end football player. But his dream crashed when a knee injury permanently sideline him. That has brought him home to pursue another dream – to open up a sports bar restaurant with the first of the franchise being in Seashell Harbor. Unfortunately for Hadley, he’s chosen her grandmother’s Pooch Palace as the ideal spot for his restaurant. Hadley isn’t about to stand for that. And so begins the competition for who will win the rights to the Pooch Palace building.

Miranda Liasson’s COMING HOME TO SEASHELL HARBOR was exactly the book I needed this week. After two very busy weeks in my own life I needed a total change of pace with a heartwarming romance and Liasson delivers.  The setting of Seashell Harbor is perfect for either a summer beach read or, if you pick it up in the winter, a super way to look forward to the next summer.  The scenes around food left me hungry and wishing Liasson included a few recipes…maybe in the future?

But it’s the characters that make this such a super read. I loved Hadley and Cam and how they both saw their weaknesses, needs and determination to find resolutions to their problems. Liasson doesn’t rush them back into their romance and gives them a few dark moments before they find their way back to each other. The people around them, Kit, Darla, and Nick, add to what makes this such a good story. You feel good reading it and it left me looking forward to book two. If you’re looking for a feel good book with a touching romance, COMING HOME TO SEASHELL HARBOR is the ideal place to start.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
