Candice Gilmer’s FANTASY GIRL is a frightening romantic suspense that chills the blood and raises goosebumps.

Lynn Broadmore is a bookkeeper by day and webmistress writing Buffy the Vampire Slayer fanfiction by night. She may not have much in the way of an exciting love life other than one blind date after another, but her alter ego on the web, Hush, most certainly does.

Undercover FBI agent Jack Edwards is trying his best to catch a serial killer who searches the internet for victims. When it appears Lynn is going to be the next victim, Jack’s assignment has him befriending Lynn at work by day and her alter ego on the web by night.

As Jack’s assignment turns personal and Lynn works her way into his heart, a murderer is coming closer to his goal, to make Lynn his FANTASY GIRL. The only question now is who will be caught first, the killer by Jack or Lynn by the killer.

Every now and then, an e-publisher surprises this reader with a book that really begs to be released in hard copy. This is the case with Samhain Publishing and their discovery of Candice Gilmer’s chilling romantic suspense, FANTASY GIRL. What makes this story so chilling is that it could happen to anyone.

The author tells the story from the alternating viewpoints of Lynn, Jack and the killer. Lynn is a bit on the wacky side, with her obsession to anything Buffy-related, her seemingly low sense of self esteem and her occasional karaoke nights with a group of mix-matched friends. Jack on the other hand has a very serious job to do, catch a killer before he kills again. His assignment turns personal as he is forced to get close to Lynn to keep her safe. And then there is the killer, lurking and watching and waiting for the perfect moment to meet his FANTASY GIRL. When he finally does get Lynn just where he wants her, the chill factor positively explodes off the page.

Samhain Publishing and Candice Gilmer have hit the ball way out of the park with FANTASY GIRL. This gripping, chilling, romantic suspense is sure to be a solid seller. FANTASY GIRL is a definite “must read” and most assuredly makes this reviewer’s short list.

Candice and I often bounce stories and ideas back and forth and I had the distinct pleasure of seeing this book in it's infancy. I nearly cried for her when she signed with my editor at Samhain. To say that I'm just thrilled read your review is a bit of an understatement.
