Poor Mindy, after spending time off planet and being experimented on by aliens; she is now a member of the Elite Hands of Justice and one of the smartest persons in the world. With no real super powers like her fellow heroes, she still feels inadequate even though she has beauty and brains. As each one of her fellow superheroes hook up with someone she is lonely until crushing headaches force her to face memories that are determined to come to surface-whether she wants them to or not. Can Mindy and her fellow Elite Hands of Justice superheroes find a solution to her headaches before they drive her insane?

TEKGRRL is a light hearted romp in the vein of comic books and I was engrossed within the pages in a matter of minutes. I do have to say that I have never read the first book, PHENOMENAL GIRL 5, and found myself wondering what the characters were talking about a few times on specific instances from that book in TEKGRRL. But overall, the writing was tight, with a fast paced storyline that introduces you to a world where superheroes are the norm. I really enjoyed this story and found the character really evolved through out TEKKGRRL.

Meet Mindy, a woman who at age twelve wanted to go to a superhero prep school and instead, her parents decided it would be better to go to school on another planet. Fast forward to many years later, alien experiments have made her super smart. In the beginning, I wanted to smack Mindy right upside the head and tell her to grow up. She mopes, whines and gradually the reader wants to find a deep hole to drag her in until this author throws a surprise in the pages and then you see Mindy evolve into a woman that appeals to the readers. Strong, independent and thank god she has a back bone- no wimpy superhero here. I loved the way she transformed herself and finds herself growing up in ways even I was amazed at, especially as the reader is sucked into the twists and turns of TEKGRRL.

TEKGRRL is a fun, light hearted romp with characters that continue to keep you entertained. Even though I didn’t read the first book, I plan to find it soon to see how this series all began. If you enjoy comic books, flawed heroes and heroines and a story that keeps you highly entertained then grab TEKGRRL and get ready for the ride of your life. I look forward to more in the Elite Hands of Justice series and hope I don’t have long to wait.
