Veronica Hardwicke has been lonely and unhappy since her elderly warlock husband died. She’s a not-very-good witch, with a lot of money, strange noises in her house, and yen for her hunky building contractor.

Sean Jones, the building contractor, hits the pages of the tabloids with a different supermodel on his arm every night, but he’s very attracted to Veronica.
Enter Madame Eve from 1NightStand.

Veronica is a fascinating person full of passion and insecurities. Sean is strong and determined, not interested in settling down, yet attracted to Veronica. His brother has already had a successful 1NightStand and when he makes one for Sean, Sean’s prepared to go along with it.

I enjoyed a couple of classic lines of text in Veronica’s POV, which demonstrated her character so well. The action was fun as well, and the sex was hot and erotic although in a couple of places it teetered on the edges of purple prose.

I may have appreciated the story more if I’d read Sean’s brother, Campbell’s story “Lightning”, first. But I do like this NightStand series of quick, hot reads and Ms. Kincaid’s story is certainly fun and hot. The continuing hints about Madame Eve in the various books are also well done.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
