We’ve see it all before—why we, as a society, has gained weight
over the decades, eat less, exercise more, eat this food, avoid that food, it’s
in your DNA, it’s how busy you are—it’s not your fault—because it wouldn’t be
PC to say it is your fault.
In Rashelle Brown’s REBOOT YOUR BODY: Unlocking the Genetic Secrets to Permanent
Weight Loss is revisits some of these excuses/reasons/plans/programs, etc. and
then does something a little different because she gives you a roadmap to work
through all of these sometimes conflicting, sometimes helpful, ideas. Her approach isn’t just medical or mind set
or practical dietary suggestions. Instead
she combines different the different sciences in an understandable, easy to
follow program that, at the same time, is forgiving of our human needs.
She starts out with some history about how we got where we are—did
you know before WWI our military was generally underweight? And it was so until pre-packaged meals—needed
to feed all the troops—came into being.
She then engages her readers into the psychological aspects of her
program—taking personal responsibility to work with what nature has given us.
There
are no expensive meal plans, meetings to hear what you could read in a book or
expensive gadgets to buy. All you need
is a notebook, pen or pencil and your personal commitment to show up to work
with yourself.
What
I particularly liked was that Brown tells you, in essence, it’s okay to be less
than perfect—that sometimes you need to take a step or two back, particularly
when it comes to plateaus. She doesn’t
tell you they might happen—but that they will, in fact, happen and then gives
you some solid advice on how to deal with them.
Ms.
Brown’s Reboot Your Body presents a solid, working took to shed those pounds
and keep them off.
This is an objective review and an endorsement of this
book.
