When Vivian finds herself at the Arcanium circus she does not realize how much her life will change. As she listens to the fair goers try their hand at singing with the carnival’s rock band the Skellies, Vivian tries hard to ignore the call to the stage but soon the urge is too strong to ignore. Yet her choice to sing changes everything. Vivian must learn to adapt and do just what Bell want. The two continue to fight as Vivian tries to figure out just how to get away. Bell is not ready to give up his latest performer and Vivian must figure out how to survive in Arcanium.

This book is number nine in the Arcanium series, and you must read the books that come before it to understand what is going on. I am a big fan of this series but found this book lacking. I was not fond of Vivian or how her story unfolds. For me Vivian is a very unlikable character, and her story begins to drag. I found it hard to enjoy this installment because of Vivian’s personality. Even though Vivian’s personality and growth are the point of this book I was not interested in what happened in Arcanium this time around. We get to see many characters that we are familiar with, and we are now introduced to the odd chef in a whole new way. What he is makes for an interesting twist, but I would have liked a bit more of his backstory and why find him in Arcanium. As wit previous books this story makes you think about many of the casual wishes that one makes every day and what is someone with the powers to grant them heard you?

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
