After Phantom learns about the abuse his cousin endured, he cannot let it go and goes in search of revenge. Alongside that revenge he finds something he never thought he would; a woman he could love. Charisma has endured so much but she will not leave the hell of a home that she is in. She will do all that she can to help the boys that are stuck in the same hell with her. Out of nowhere a savior comes to help and just maybe Charisma can find some peace, but the evil does not want to leave them alone. Can Phantom keep Charisma and the children safe or will evil win in the end?

While I enjoyed the premise of this book there were a few parts that were over the top and some that felt like they were not dealt with. Phantom and Charisma are a good couple, but their relationship moved very fast especially for a woman who has been abused all her life and is afraid of men. Phantom is a good man, and he is ready to fight for those that need his help. He is a man with a big heart and is not afraid to let it show. It was nice to see how everyone comes together to help keep Charisma and the children safe. This story moves at a fast pace and there are parts that are graphic but not overly done. I would have liked to see the story and characters a bit more fleshed out as this story felt almost uncomplete for me.

ASHES by Harley Wylde

Devil’s Boneyard MC 7

Romance

The seventh book in Harley Wylde’s Devil’s Boneyard Motorclub series of romances is the story of an unlikely love found under impossible circumstances.

Nikki was tortured and forced to witness the father of her unborn child be brutally murdered in front of her before the motorcycle club her brother was a part of could save her.  The psychological scars that left her with have made getting up each day and functioning near impossible.  If it wasn’t for Ashes checking in with her daily, she would have curled up in a ball and withered away.

Ashes has been in love with Nikki for years, but he knows her brother, president of their Devil’s Boneyard cycle club, would not take the news of that pairing well.  So Ashes has kept his distance as best he can.  But it was Ashes’ cousin that was responsible for Nikki’s torture and getting her baby daddy killed and Ashes simply can’t help himself from reaching out to her in her time of need.  Now circumstances have thrown them together and Ashes doesn’t want to go back to being just friends.

Harley Wylde has penned a fast paced story of love within the dangerous world of motorcycle clubs that will have readers finishing this book in no time, partly because the book is only a little over one hundred and twenty pages long and partly because the story just flows that well.  The characters are interesting and a good match and the glimpses into motorcycle club life show some research had gone into the lifestyle.

This reader enjoyed the slowly building romance between the main characters and the edge of danger inherent in the back story.  Though the story was fairly short and there weren’t all that many surprises, Harley Wylde’s ASHES was still an entertaining book that fans of the genre are sure to appreciate.

What is an agent to do when he is undercover and captured? Holt is not happy when he is captured and the last thing he expected to find on this assignment was his mate being held prisoner as well. Yet that is not the end of the story for Holt and Bastian, it seems there is another mate out there for them. When agent Decker is brought on to the job everything changes for him. It seems that Bastian and Holt belong to him, his bear knows its mates as soon as he smells their scents. Agent Decker will stop at nothing to find and rescue his mates, but will he find them in time?

I enjoyed this story. It is a fast paced read that grabbed me right from the start. Each man has a different personality and we see how each man reacts differently to the others. Bastian is strong and has been through so much and he still fights and survives. His two mates are good men and strong alphas. Decker and Holt will stop at nothing to keep Bastian safe and happy now that they have found him. I enjoyed watching the men find their way and fight to make sure Bastian and every other shifter was safe from the evil that has found its way into their world. The emotions are strong in this story and the love that the three feel is shown freely. Their story is part of a series, but I found that I was able to read this book as a standalone. The personalities of the three men are distinct and I enjoyed the story, there was a nice balance to the romance and to the action.
