Mona Lisa is a Monere, a child of the moon and a woman who has no memory of who she is. Believing that Roberto Carderas is her lover and protector, she thwarts every attempt to rescue her from his clutches. But things are not all as it seems and with this game Roberto is playing, Mona Lisa is about to find out that the truth of her past is about to collide with her present in ways that will shock her. For Dante, her Demon Prince lover, is determined to restore her memories of her past, of their love for one another for Roberto is devising a dangerous scheme that will kill anyone in its path.

I haven’t read too many of these books lately but when I started reading MONA LISA ECLIPSING, I got so lost in the pages of the book that I was determined to see what happens for Mona Lisa and Dante to the very end. Sunny is a talented author who knows how to draw her readers in, captivating them till the very end. The storyline continues where Mona Lisa Darkening left off and it definitely keeps you enthralled. The sex scenes are sprinkled throughout though it does not distract the reader at all. I really liked that part of it. This author made sure the sex scenes were part of something natural to the main characters and it conveyed it perfectly, even as I fanned my face a from all the blushing I was doing.

This author’s world building is phenomenal. The growing cast of characters is a testament of her knowledge of this world she has created. All the characters-main and secondary-are well written and I felt they could have stepped off the pages at any time to chat with me. There are a few plot twists that keep the reader intrigued and I was on the edge of my seat once the storyline got moving. If you haven’t grabbed this book or are a new reader to it, then I urge you to run-don’t-walk-to grab it. This is one series I am always anticipating the next book. The author, Sunny, delivers another spellbinding story in her acclaimed Monere series to enjoy. Now the question is-how long till the next one comes out?

Mona Lisa will have to face something more sinister than she ever imagined when she finds herself thrust in NetherHell-a realm ruled by demons. Evil arises and Mona Lisa will have to choose her destiny before it is chosen for her in order to escape this cursed place. Add in warlords, evil queens and more, Mona Lisa has more than just escape to deal with, she has to deal with her internal struggles as well.

MONA LISA DARKENING is the fourth book in the Children of the Moon series and I confess the first book I read. I did enjoy the way Sunny writes. Lyrical with a fast paced storyline that will keep you entertained if you read the first three books first. I found Mona Lisa to be a strong heroine in here and I enjoyed how she interacted with her first love, Halcyon and her friends. It was intriguing to see how the emotions that flew in the pages for each character. This author is a talented storyteller and definitely delivers a fast paced ride from start to finish.

Meet Mona Lisa, the mixed blood queen of the Monere. Once a month her people gather as she draws down the strength of the white light from the moon, except this Vernal equinox, something drastically goes wrong and Mona Lisa is thrust in the lower part of hell called the NetherHell. A strong female heroine and emotions spin out of control as Mona finds herself dealing not just with NetherHell but her internal struggles as well. I liked how feisty Mona Lisa is as she tries to deal with so many changes while fighting to escape NetherHell. It made me root for her to get her happily ever after. With some interesting characters in NetherHell and beyond to keep your interest, this author delivers a character driven story that will leave you gasping.

MONA LISA DARKENING is best read in order to understand the entire story so far (MONA LISA CRAVING, MONA LISA BLOSSOMING & MONA LISA AWAKENING). If you enjoy Laurrell K. Hamilton or Anne Bishop, then you will enjoy the Children of the Moon series. I look forward to reading the first three books of Mona Lisa’s adventures and hope there is more Children of the Moon books in the future.

THIS IS NOT AN ENDORSEMENT OF THIS BOOK. THIS IS AN OBJECTIVE UNBIASED REVIEW.

Lucinda is a demon dead princess. As daughter of the High Lord of Hell, she rules over nothing. Occasionally she’ll retrieve a wayward demon and feed off the savage Monére but, her only diversion is to visit the living world as a shadow. Then one night she comes across a lone Monére warrior, Stefan who lives alone with a mixed-blood boy as outcasts. Stefan offers himself to her and she is shocked and moved by her desire for him. Now she must find a home between the jealousy of the dead and the violence of the living if she is to keep her newfound love and life. When Nico comes into the mix and a lost demon, Lucinda needs to draw on powers she never knew she had to keep them all safe.

Now this is just the type of book this reviewer loves. Dark, tantalizing, erotic, seductive and powerful, Sunny drags her reader into the story, compels them to keep reading and holds them captive. Her characters leap off the pages and she manages to describe everything so realistically that the reader will be caught up in Lucinda’s adventures. Sunny does not spare the readers feelings but gives a pretty gruesome story that is not for the faint hearted. Fans of Laurell K. Hamilton will devour this story and as this reviewer, will be hunting down Sunny’s backlist. This reviewer did wish that Stefan had made more of an appearance in this story and now Sunny’s fans will have to wait until 2009 for the next book, Lucinda, Deadly to come out.
