I am a big fan of Kim Harrison and I have enjoyed this series from start to finish. I was happy to get to read this book but at the same time I was sad that it was the last in the series. I have enjoyed going along for the ride with Rachel and all her friends and enemies along the way.  This last adventure of Rachel’s is a big one. This book manages to tie up all the loose ends and give some happy ever afters.

The Witch With No Name begins soon after the last book ended. So much is going on with Rachel and her friends. Rachel will not fail Ivy and the promises that she made. Rachel is determined to make as much right as she can for everyone. I enjoyed watching everything fall into place in this story. Trent, Ivy, and Jenks are all here and even Al will not be left out. Everyone has their own part to play before this book is over.

I was pulled into this story right from the very first page and did not want to leave when the story ended. Rachel’s story has a few twists and turns in this book that I did not see coming. Emotions are strong in this book and we get to see how stable their relationships are. Each visit to this world is like visiting with family. This story brings everyone’s tale together. Love for family and friends bring Rachel and all her friends closer than ever. Trent and Rachel work through so much as well. I am glad that after it is all said and done Trent proves that he is not such a bad guy after all.

The author has done a great job with not only this book but the whole series. The turmoil and the action are nicely balanced with the camaraderie and the emotions. I hope that this is not the last time we ever get to visit with Rachel and the Hollows.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.

I am a big fan of this author and this series. When I first came across Kim Harrison’s start to this series I was reluctant to read it but when I finally gave in I was hooked and could not figure out why I had taken so long to read it. Since that first book I have eagerly bought and devoured every book in this series and this latest one is no different.

I love Rachel Morgan and all the characters in this series (good and bad). So much is going on in this book from vampires, fairies, gargoyles and more it seems that everyone in the magical realm is involved in Rachel’s life somehow. Rachel must try to fix the damage done to the key lines or become a sacrifice herself. As Rachel fights to fix the damage she caused she must also fight for her very life. Throughout this series we have watched Rachel grow and learn as she lives. She makes friends and enemies along the way but she always stays true to herself. Rachel continues her journey in this book and if you have not read the previous ones you will be lost.

The demon Ku’ Sox is back again and causing Rachel problems. Many favorites are in this book as well including Al, Jenks and Ivy. I found myself immersed in the wondrous world and truly enjoying this read. I cannot wait to see what will happen in Rachel’s world next.

Fast paced and action packed this story does not disappoint. While I did miss seeing a few of the main characters like David and such I did enjoy this visit to Rachel’s world. I have come to love these characters as if they were family and hope that we get to visit them again sometime soon. I loved seeing more of Rachel and Trent together and hope that their relationship will end in happiness. The two deserve to find it even if they both do not see it.  Trent seems to be determined to marry Ellasbeth and sacrifice love.

This story has it all; love, death, action and romance making it a good read that should not be missed.

BLACK MAGIC SANCTION by Kim Harrison

The Hollows Series book 8

Witch Rachel Morgan has survived demon attacks, vampires, and even two ISA death threats but now she may have gotten in way over head when her own kind come after her. Secrets have been reveled about Rachel that has her in a panic and now the White Magic Coven who polices the witches are after her for those secrets and for doing black magic. It will take all her strength, her determination to beat them for the price is high if she fails: death.

BLACK MAGIC SANCTION takes place after WHITE WITCH, BLACK CURSE and it gets hairy for Rachel. Not only has she had to deal with the deal she made with the demon Al, but now the coven of ethical and moral standards has decided she is threat with her learning of black magic. What I really love about this book is that you get a deeper insight into the characters, the world they inhabit and meet some really bad villains who practice white magic (the good magic). The characters rocked the book and yes, you will need some tissues for an event foretold in other books will leave you bawling as you flip the pages. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t read this one yet but Rachel’s life is about to get even bumpier and crazier.

BLACK MAGIC SANCTION is one of the best books so far in The Hollows series and I have to admit, I had to stay up and see what happened next. I just could not put it down. Ms. Harrison delves into Rachel’s world with gusto and delivers a story that leaves you asking for more when the last page is read. Tight writing, beloved characters and a fast paced storyline with so many twists and turns you feel like you’re on a roller coaster. The only drawback I had when finished was that I wanted the next book NOW! Ms. Harrison delivers a story that will completely engross you and if you haven’t checked this series out, I highly recommend you do so. I just want to point out that you should read this series in order as each book capitalizes on the past ones. BLACK MAGIC SANCTION is a book I will definitely read again in the future, after I re-read the other books in the series again.

WHITE WITCH, BLACK CURSE: The Hollows Book 7 by Kim Harrison

Rachel Morgan is trying to get over the death of her lover being murdered but dang it, it is so hard to find the peace she craves when even she cannot remember what exactly happened that fateful night. With her heart weeping daily, her friends trying to help and determination to find his killer running through her veins, Rachel finds that all roads lead to good intentions…….sometimes. But she has bigger problems when she is dragged in on a case that has even Rachel wondering if she is nuts especially as the past comes back to bite her in the ass.

Ms. Harrison has done it again wit her latest foray into The Hollows. WHITE WITCH, BLACK CURSE starts out six months after Kisten’s murder and Rachel still hasn’t processed everything fully from that fateful night. Not remembering has something to do with it as well and she is gunning for revenge and to solve the one thing that haunts her every step she takes. Add in a banshee going nuts and family uproars, Rachel has more than enough on her plate except more comes from the least place she ever expected. Can she find the strength to deal with everything falling apart around her or will she have a massive melt down?

Ms. Harrison’s vulnerable Rachel Morgan is a study of contradictions. Strength, independence and charismatic, Rachel is a character that continues to grow with each book. I am always thrilled to read one of Ms. Harrison’s Hollows stories and this was one that gets you on all levels of your emotions. Laughter, tears and smiles were just a fraction of the emotions that flowed through me as I read WHITE WITCH, BLACK CURSE. Each page was like a new twist or turn for Rachel, Jenks, Ivy and all their friends to figure out and somehow end up alive in the process. Ms. Harrison’s writing delivers with each page making me go eagerly onto the next to find out what happens. The characters continue to grow, evolve and find themselves as they deal with new problems on top of the ones they are already trying to cope with. Ms. Harrison delves deep into Rachel’s mind, heart and soul and the reader gets a sense of what she wants to be against who she thinks she should be. Is she a plague to those who stay around her? I certainly don’t think so but Rachel learns some hard things and finds her inner strength to deal with everything.

With her trademark style, Ms. Harrison delivers a pulse pounding ride and another glimpse into her beloved Hollows series that keeps readers glued to their seats for the next installment. If you haven’t read one of The Hollows Books, I definitely suggest you grab them all because you don’t want to miss a series like this. WHITE WITCH, BLACK CURSE is destined to be one of those read again books for me as I find myself aching for the next installment from this prolific author. So run, don’t walk to grab the latest Hollows book and be prepared to while the afternoon away reading the latest adventures Rachel has as well as her friends.
