All she knows is her name and that she killed someone. Anything else is a blank in her mind. Being saved by Grendon, Sefria doesn’t trust him but has no choice in the matter. Grendon has secrets of his own and he is determined to use Sefria for his purposes as he knows she can topple a kingdom unless she is managed right. For Grendon is determined to use her unknown power to his own ends. Can Sefria find a way to remember her past so she can have a future?

THE KING’S DEMON is an interesting story full of supernatural mysteries, creatures and more. Ms. Cooper writes an engrossing story that will hook the reader from the first page to the last. I was up most of the evening trying to see what would happen next for Sefria and if she would figure out her mysterious benefactor, Grendon. Full of intriguing characters, a fast paced storyline and many twists and turns will leave the reader turning the pages to see what would happen next. Ms. Cooper is a “new to me” author and I was eager to check out her other works after reading THE KING’S DEMON.

In THE KING’S DEMON, you meet Sefria, a woman who can’t remember her past and why she was walking down that lonely stretch of road at that time of night. When she is almost plowed down by Grendon’s horse, he finds himself rescuing her though her amnesia leaves him with more questions than answers. With a supernatural power Sefria is unaware of, Grendon finds the perfect weapon to take down the creatures that are plaguing the kingdom. The question is: will Sefria find out he is using her while trying to remember her lost memories? Ms. Cooper delves deep into these two flawed characters and I was intrigued by the powers both displayed throughout the story. It was a nice twist on vampires and paranormal that had me glued to the pages, eager for more. The dynamics between Grendon and Sefria start out rough but slowly it builds and as secrets come to light, both find they have to choose between being a prisoner and being free.

THE KING’S DEMON is a very well told story that will keep you highly entertained from the first page to the last. If you enjoy a different twist on your paranormal, then grab this enjoyable story.

THE LEGACY OF THE SILVER SCORPION sounded like a really cool story to enjoy and pass an afternoon with. I found the writing tight, fast paced and it draws you in the beginning. The problem I had with this story was the endless back and forth from one time period to another. It kept jumping me out of the enjoyment of reading about The Silver Scorpion. It starts out in 1940 and the reader gets a bird’s eye view of how this man worked NYC. It was like those old movies with swashbuckling heroes and damsels in distress, except the damsels were a city. Then the story goes to the way side. Next thing I knew, it was 2080 and The Silver Scorpion is facing a different threat in a city he remembers from 1940 and people who he thinks are slightly nuts. The one other thing I have to mention is all these characters thrown at you. I just could not get into them and it felt like the story should have had a “who’s who” list in there to let you know all about them. It was just hard to really care about them. Add in the hopping between time periods and you get a mixed up mess that had me rubbing my eyes in confusion. The flow starts off nice and it builds up, then you are yanked out and it starts all over again. I would have enjoyed this more if it didn’t have that problem of yanking me out of the story constantly.

THE LEGACY OF THE SILVER SCORPION sounds like a really good historical/futuristic story to enjoy but it does have some issues that I didn’t enjoy. I wish the author had the Silver Scorpion do something else besides cleaning up after everyone else. If you enjoy this type of story then this may be the one for you.
