While running from vampires Jimmy Torren never thought he would make it out alive let alone find his mate. Ryan may be working as a healer but he is still a prisoner of the vampires. He longs for escape but must work off the rest of his contract or else the vampires will take it out on his family. The two men are thrown together by circumstance and find themselves more than just attracted to one another, but will misconceptions and lies ruin what they could have together?

I really liked meeting Ryan and Jimmy. The two make a great couple. Both are strong men who want to do what is right and are more than ready to fight for those that they care for. Watching Jimmy and Ryan’s relationship begin to blossom made for a good read. Their emotions are strong and trust is gained as well as lost in this story. It was nice to see the two men find a way to fight for their love. Jimmy must find the truth and decide if he will go after what he longs for or if he will let happiness slip through his fingers. Ryan is such a stand-up guy. Willing to lose everything to save his family, Ryan gives up on his dreams and takes what the vampires dish out. He never gives up on his love and gives with all his heart.

This is a fast paced and engaging story that will pull on your heartstrings at times and have you believing in love.

All Aeducan can remember is pain and the man who caused it yet when he confronts this man he finds his mate. Cameron never thought he would live to see the day he found his mate or even if he truly had one. His life has been nothing but pain yet the one time he finds hope he is accused of the worst possible thing: torturing his own mate. Nothing Cameron does or says will persuade his mate and his friends otherwise. Can Aeducan ever learn to love him if he continues to think that Cameron is the one who tortured him while he was a prisoner or will Cameron forever be an outcast?

Love is a strange thing. Aeducan thinks he finds it in the worst place. He feels the need to protect the very man he believes is his tormentor yet he cannot shake the feeling that something is not right with this picture. I enjoyed watching the relationship build between him and Cameron.  He is a good man and tries to find a way to believe or even forgive his mate. Cameron is a sweet man who tries so hard to only fail over and over again. He longs for what he thinks he can never have and will do anything to have it. The two make a good couple. The love that they share shines through in everything that they do.

It was nice to see the pack stand by each other and let Aeducan figure out what he wanted and needed to do for himself. Emotions are strong in this story and I felt for poor Cameron. He can never seem to prove his innocence and it hurts your heart to see him go through so much even after he is saved from the vampires.  When the tables are turned and the truth finally comes out the pain that Cameron and Aeducan feel is the worst and Aeducan learns another painful lesson and once again the pack comes together to protect what is theirs. I enjoyed this visit to the pack and cannot wait to see who finds their mate next.

CLICK HERE TO PURCHASE! Cooper McKenzie’s THE BILLIONAIRE’S MATE and its sequel, THE COP’S MATE, are shape-shifter, erotica short stories that simply fail to hit the mark.

In THE BILLIONAIRE’S MATE, Margot Jackson is interviewing for a job she desperately needs when she meets CEO Adam Thomasson, a shapeshifting billionaire who immediately recognizes Margot as his destined mate.
Although Margot naturally thinks Adam might be slightly insane when he attempts to claim her, there and then in his office. When he tells her they are meant to be together, she is also strongly attracted to Adam and more than willing to see where this mating thing is going.

CLICK HERE TO PURCHASE!In THE COP’S MATE, Matt Brady, cop and enforcer for his pack, has come to town to rescue his sister, Margot Jackson (who apparently has no idea that her brother is a shape-shifter), from a crazy billionaire (who she fails to mention is a shape-shifter).
He finds his sister happily mated. He is however, surprised to find his own mate, a spoiled shifter who has attacked his sister more than once, over her new mate Adam.

This is the first time that this reviewer has felt the need to combine the review of two separate stories into one review. Please bear with me as I explain why I felt the need to do just that this time.

Both of Cooper McKenzie’s paranormal erotica shorts, THE BILLIONAIRE’S MATE and its sequel THE COP’S MATE are stand alone books that could easily be combined into one story. The result would probably be a slightly stronger storyline, but most likely would not improve the rating this reviewer would have given anyway. Perhaps that is one of the reasons why the author decided to keep the stories separate. She might have gotten a few more readers with a slightly longer book, but by keeping the books separate, she may have been able to sell more books, thereby making more money. But of course, this is just speculation.

Both stories are marketed as paranormal/shape-shifter books as shape-shifters feature predominately in both stories. However, why these characters needed to be shape-shifters is lost on this reader. Perhaps it was to explain why both Adam and Matt, instantly recognized their future mates and immediately set out to mate with them.

Frankly, this reader doubts that little fact would have changed the story in any meaningful way, if their shifter status was removed from the stories. Both stories, to this reader, ran more along the lines of a short porn film, the main characters meet and immediately get down to the sex. Then cut to end of story. There simply wasn’t much more to these short stories. For these reasons, it seemed inane to write two separate reviews that would be apprised of basically the same critique.

This reader was really disappointed with both of Cooper McKenzie’s short paranormal erotica stories, THE BILLIONAIRE’S MATE and THE COP’S MATE. Having read many terrific short stories that had substantial storylines, with paranormal aspects integral to the stories, these two simply fell short. However, if all you are looking for is a little bit of erotica, it is possible that you might not feel that your money was wasted with these two books.

Jezebeth, a succubus is out one night hunting. She needs the sexual energy to survive. While getting close to a likely ‘victim’, she’s attacked by a demon. Things aren’t going so well when a handsome human comes to her rescue. Together they get rid of the demon and are now on the run. It seems that he is to escort her back to Lilith her queen as there is a mighty powerful demon after her and her sisters.

Noah Halston is really a horror story writer. One day, during his research, he spoke a summoning spell out loud and summoned, Lilith. Now he owes her and she has commanded him to find Jezebeth, protect her and bring her back to Lilith’s lair. If he fails, then it’s an eternity of torture. Thing is, Noah is falling for the sexy succubus, but she could kill him if he gives in to the attraction.

This is quite an exciting, action-packed story that will pull you in and keep you interested until the last page. Cassie Ryan has quite a vivid imagination and builds a world of demons, angels, succubus, incubus and other paranormal creatures who all live and work among our world today. Ms Ryan cleverly uses biblical lore and gives her readers a story that is quite believable. I loved her characters. Jezebeth is, although immortal, quite human in her thoughts and actions. Noah is at first repulsed by Jez, but it doesn’t take long to find out they have a lot in common. We also meet Uriel, the arch-angel Michael, Raphael and Gabriel. I was particularly enthralled by the relationship between Uriel and Lilith. Of course, I have to tell you, this is a hot, sensuous, romantic story that will heat up those cold winter nights.

I’m really looking forward to more!

Las Vegas is temptation to the core-lights, sounds and a chance to take home big money…or not. When Orlando Spenser loses a nice size amount of the family money, he returns home, broken hearted and finds that his family has had it with his gambling ways. They tell him to return to Sin City and find a mate but not any woman will do. Orlando is given a cryptic clue on which his potential mate may be. Once he locates her, can he convince her to toss aside her mortal life and take a chance on a vampire who is determined to bring back his virgin bride?

WINNING VIRGIN BLOOD is a wonderful debut into a series about vampires and the Spenser clan. Lots of wonderful characters are introduced and the reader gets a look into the Spenser family as they live in the lap of luxury and revel in the traditions of their past. Ms. Blaine deftly weaves her spell across the pages and lures you in with her wonderful story. A cast of characters that are sexy, rowdy and definitely sinful to the reader’s eyes makes this story highly enjoyable. The writing is tight, action fast paced and the desire fairly simmers across the pages as Orlando tries to convince her to trust in him and the passion they find together.

Meet Orlando Spenser, a love-‘em-and-leave-‘em type of vampire. A gamble, Lady Luck leaves him broke and ashamed as he slinks home to Scotland and the Spenser family home. His kinsmen decide he needs to return to Las Vegas and find his mate but not any woman will do. He has to find a winner and a virgin to boot; as if life hasn’t gotten worse than ever in Orlando’s eyes. Orlando Spenser is one sexy vampire. Heck, I wouldn’t mind letting him take a bite out of me if he asked. Sexy as sin, devilish and determined, Orlando finds that wooing his mate-to-be is more work than he thought. Natasha isn’t going to let Orlando dictate everything and she makes him work for her heart in more ways than one. Sparks fly between them and as both find out, winning is all in the eyes of the beholder. These two are absolutely perfect for each other. Orlando and Natasha dance their way into each other’s hearts and find a love that will transform them. The entire Spenser family is a riot and I loved the dynamics of how they relate to one another.

WINNING VIRGIN BLOOD is a phenomenal story that will transport you and then never let you go. Fast paced, simmering sexual desire and characters that steal your hearts is what makes this a spectacular story to enjoy. A great debut into the paranormal genre, Ms. Blaine delivers right on the first try and leaves the reader clamoring for more stories on the Spenser family. If you haven’t picked up the introduction of the Spenser clan, WINNING VIRGIN BLOOD, then I highly recommend grabbing it. I am eager to see what happens next for the Spenser’s and who may be next as they find their mates. Get ready for there’s a new paranormal author in town; Destiny Blaine is one who will deliver a highly addictive series that will take your breath away right from the beginning.

Black Dragon Eden Antaeus just found out by her brother that she is considered the “Queen of Kink”. Not knowing if its true or not, Eden runs out to prove him wrong and ends up with something so much more after going to the vampire club Carpe Noctem. What she finds instead is a man who just might be all that and more for Eden is about to find something even she wasn’t looking for……love.

HOT WATER is the second story in Lex Valentine’s Tales of the Darkside series and it is a very intriguing one at that. I love the way Eden and Colin meet and find that their one night of explosive sex has them intrigued with one another. Secrets, passion and destiny all play their hand in HOT WATER.

Meet Eden Antaeus, a black dragon whose brother Sean just informed her she is the “Queen of Kink”- one who doesn’t like Vanilla Sex. Eden finds she is appalled and ends up at vampire club Carpe Noctem trying to find someone to prove her brother wrong when she bumps into Colin Granville. He is a delightful male who stirs Eden like no other had and soon these two are finding that passion runs hot between them. Can Colin persuade Eden that she isn’t who her brother insists she is? Will Colin’s secret force Eden away? These two have got to be the most interesting couple I have read in a long time. Eden is spunky and not afraid to show Colin what she desires while Colin is a strong man that can teach Eden she isn’t who she thinks she is. Lex Valentine delves right in and keeps the reader glued to the pages even as some wonderful secondary characters had me laughing with their quips. I am hoping some of the secondary characters come back in future stories.

HOT WATER delivers laughter, pleasure and more as Lex Valentine delves into her Darkside world and captures the essence of Colin and Eden in its pages. If you enjoy some enthralling multi-dimensional characters, a fast paced storyline and some really hot sex, then turn into HOT WATER and get ready for the heat of the Darkside.

When Misty and Justin are fired from a TV show in New York City, Misty comes up with a brilliant idea to start their own show. Justin isn’t fully on board with Misty’s ideas. Misty isn’t taking no for an answer and finally convinces him it’s the perfect idea. Justin might not like Misty’s ideas, but he’s enjoying the hot sex they’re having, now that they don’t have to hide their feelings for each other any longer.

After an evening out at their favorite Chinese restaurant and a few too many drinks they stumble upon a drunk who trades spare change for an old bottle for Justin’s coat. During a heated moment, Misty knocks over the bottle releasing a Genie. Life takes more turns then either is ready for. They’re suddenly thrown into their own show, guided by the Genie. Not only is he helping them, he’s enjoying watching their hot sex life.

But will three wishes be all they ever dreamed of or nothing but a nightmare?

This reviewer loves Ashlyn Chase’s books and was not disappointed with DJINN AND TONIC. Ms. Chase delivers a humorous story with red hot sex. Misty and Justin’s chemistry rolls from page to page in this quickie.

The Genie is unlike any Genie you’ll ever read about. He’s a feisty character with a few flaws that will leave you wondering what he’ll cook up next. DJINN AND TONIC has an interesting twist to it and I found myself reading word after word just to find out if they’d find success with a new show or be sabotaged by the Genie. I also had to know if they would get their happily ever after or would their stubbornness for success get in their way of true love.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I found myself wishing for a genie after reading this comedy! The only disappointment was this book was a quickie!

DJINN AND TONIC
is a must read for anyone who loves erotica. I look forward to future books from Ms. Chase.

Whenever Izzy is home, she has dreams of the same lover every night. A lover who is stone cold with no emotions. Then she finds out that there is a secret society in the village that believes in the legend of the MacKinnon brothers who were cursed and turned to stone. When she stumbles on one of the statues, she realises it’s the man of her dreams. There he is, a brave, kilted warrior. The spirit of her mother helps her to unlock the curse and Ian becomes flesh and bone. When he sees the red-headed girl he has a hard time hiding his reaction. But he has awakened after 200 years to another time and has a lot to learn. He especially needs to learn, that unless he finds his true love he will never be completely free of the curse and Izzy needs to prove to him that he is her man before the evil that wants to wipe out the MacKinnon’s succeeds.

What is not to like about this book? A brave, alpha, kilted warrior, a hot romance that gets every part of your body sizzling and tingling and an adventure that has you on the edge of your seat. I really enjoyed this story and Tara Nina delivers on every side. This is a story that will hold you captive. And with an alpha, kilted male, who you will sometimes want to knock over the head, you will still be rooting for him as he tries to find his way in a strange new world. I had to smile when he takes his first car ride. Who would believe that a sword-wielding man would be in a fit of terror? I’ve read a Tara Nina book before and enjoyed it very much, so was in anticipation of another good book. I was not disappointed and I plan to go and glom her backlist as soon as possible. Five stories of the gods of Mount Olympus enthrall the readers’ with such delectable delights that include Ares, Poseidon, Apollo, Adrian and Dionysus all find that love comes when you least expect it. Get ready for the NECTOR OF THE GODS.

First up was Warrior Lover by Marianne LaCroix which kicks off this fabulous anthology full of gods/goddesses, mortals and historical events that play over the pages of NECTOR OF THE GODS. In Warrior Lover, we meet Ares, God of War who doesn’t believe that he needs to love. A “love’em & leave ‘em” type, he shuns the soft emotions of love…that is until one cool night he meets the woman who has the face of a goddess and a warrior’s heart. It’s 1944 and the day before D-Day and Ares is deep in the fight for peace in WWII. When he lays eyes on Belle, a French Resistance fighter, he loses his cool and finds himself falling for the one woman who keeps him on his toes. Will Ares be able to let the one woman find her destiny or will he keep her locked up, safe from all harm in a gilded cage?

Oh my, this was one very hot beginning to the NECTOR OF THE GODS anthology. Ms. LaCroix delves right into war, love and the way the gods/goddesses play with mortals right off the bat. With the right amount of passion, adrenaline and purpose, she delivers a story that will keep you reading even after the story is done. I really enjoyed the way Belle went toe to toe with Ares over his highhandedness and the characters really come alive in Warrior Lover. Ms. LaCroix does a fabulous job capturing her characters and the way she made the setting of the story come alive made me feel like I was there beside them. This was a very satisfying start to the anthology.

Next up was Oh My God by Ashlyn Chase. This one had me laughing hysterically in spots and then moaning in delight over the antics of Dionysus, the god of wine, women and song. After falling down and bumping his head, Big D as he is called by people he doesn’t remember, finds himself trying to figure out who the heck he is. In the process, he meets two beautiful women who convince him that in order to give up one very bad habit, he must replace it with another. Is this the key to being stone cold sober. Can the Big D find out who he is before it is too late? Will Mandy and Brandy be able to help Dionysus with his identity crisis and in the process maybe find love as well?

Ms. Chase does a masterful job in capturing Dionysus and the way he had flashes of a life he just couldn’t remember had me giggling like mad. Add in two very naughty women and some well meaning siblings, stir it all together and you get delicious chaos. This is one fun; rollicking good time in the Big Easy and MS. Chase definitely gives some sizzle to Dionysus and the women in his life.

Next up was Fate Unbound by Isabelle Drake. A story of oracles, children of the god Zeus and finding out what you really want in life. Meet Taryn, a woman forced to leave her home in Ancient Greece, used to being adored for her beauty and body and having to deal with an Oracle’s declaration: She must submit to all men who ask of it of her yet she cannot the same. In the process, she will find the one man who will desire submission of her and in the process be the right man for her. What Taryn hates is the way her life just went to hell in a hand basket very quickly. Thrust in modern LA, bored and restless, she finds the one man who makes her long for something more; the one man she thought she left behind in Ancient Greece.

Fate Unbound was a nice way to recharge after reading the first two passionate stories. Full of intriguing characters and an oracle’s declaration, Ms. Drake delves into Taryn and Adrian’s story with abandon and delivers a sensual twist that will leave you breathless.

Apollo’s Choice by Sascha Illyvich was a fun read with Apollo finding himself banished after years of popularity on Mount Olympus by Hera. Cursed in a body of a bass player for some grunge band, he tries to find a way back to the life he had and the powers he used. It is only when a delectable redheaded beauty has him thinking with his heart when the opportunity comes for him to go back home. Will Apollo chose love over hearth?

Author Sascha Illyvich does a wonderful job delivering a passionate yet strong story that captures Apollo’s emotions and the way he has to make a decision between going home or to the woman who holds his heart. With strong strokes of the pen, Sascha brings the story alive with the right amount of erotic passion, intrigue and multidimensional characters that pull you in and don’t let go, even after the last page is read.

Finally, Possessing Poseidon by Annmarie Ortega was the climatic ending of this fabulous anthology. Greek god Poseidon falls for Beth a woman with a past, one that will find past and present collide when secrets come out in the open and Beth finds that her lover, Den has a secret that will change the way she looks at him. Can Poseidon keep Beth alive long enough to see that some things are worth fighting for?

The final story in this enthralling anthology came from author Annmarie Ortega and has Poseidon falling in love with a mortal woman who only knows him as Den. Beth has a dangerous secret, one that will force Den’s secrets to the surface and have him racing to convince Beth that the love they share is real after all. An interesting twist on this God and very well written, Ms. Ortega delivers a coupe de grace with Possessing Poseidon and delivers a story that will keep you gasping for more after the final page is read.

NECTOR OF THE GODS is a delightful anthology full of randy gods and the women who tame them, though if one of these guys comes for me, I just might melt. Each author delivers a beautiful and rich story that captivates you and will deliver some spine tingling moans of delight in the process. Run to grab this wonderfully amusing anthology and get ready to enjoy the antics of some delectable gods of Olympus.

As soon as she arrives she begins to have very erotic dreams of a lover whose face she never sees. Her new co-workers make a dare with her. She needs to go to a haunted house and pick a rose. Thinking it’s nothing than a silly thing, she agrees.

Orrin is a Time Agent and with his partner, they have come to Earth to hunt Weres. It’s close to Halloween, and the Weres are here to feed. But they’ve come looking for more than food; they are after blood, Krista’s blood. When they arrive on Earth, Orrin finds the woman that’s been haunting his dreams. When they meet, the connection between them is something that cannot be ignored. The Weres want Krista to mate with their leader and only a Time Agent can step in to stop them!

This is one great story that I really enjoyed. It sure warmed me up on this chilly, winter’s night. Donna Grant really knows how to capture her readers with a good plot and some toe-curling sex scenes. This talented author has managed to pack a well-rounded story into this short package. Her characters leap off the pages. Krista and Orrin are an explosive couple. The plot is well thought out and reads very well. I was frantically reading to see what would happen next. Sometimes I get frustrated with the dream lover plot where the hero and heroine only meet in dreams until almost the end of the story, but this one was really well done, with Orrin and Krista meeting almost right away. In this story, Weres are not heroes and are rather unsavoury characters. But the Time Agents are yummy, and I hope Donna Grant writes more stories about these men.

So, if you enjoy a good paranormal, with great characters, good plot and some pulse pounding sex scenes, then pick this one, sit back and enjoy!

I really enjoyed the emotions between the characters and consider this a story that fans of the genre will really enjoy. In fact, all of the Gingersnaps so far have been great reads!

Lida Sandros is on a dead end road with her boyfriend and decides to end the relationship. She’d really like to settle down and find someone who will love her and cuddle her, but since Xavier Hido walked out on her she’s having trouble finding Mr. Right. Xavier has been researching the history of Vampiropolis and getting into deep trouble. In order to protect the ones he loves, he left. He’s regretted leaving Lida behind but he didn’t want to put her at risk. Trouble is, Lida has been given an artifact and is now in the very danger that Xavier was trying to protect her from. He now also realises he needs her, but, after breaking her heart once can he convince Lida of that?

I really enjoyed this book. It’s just right for an evening quickie. The romance is so sexy and sensual, it got my motor running. This story should come with a big warning to keep a bucket of ice nearby or your sweetie. The plot is quite exciting too, with strange artifacts doing strange things and even stranger things happening. Yes, altogether strange. But while Xavier and Lida are finding things out, their relationship is going up in flames and they are heating up this book with some delicious love scenes. Selena Illyria gives her readers an emotion packed story with an adventure that keeps the pages turning. The characters leap off the pages and secondary characters add even more spice and everything nice. I want more!

Drew Reid is burnt out. Hunting and slaying Shadow Demons has taken it’s toll on the man. His boss has ordered him to take some down time and sends him a place where he is just supposed to watch for demon activity and think about whether he wants to hang up his sword or not. Then he meets Blair Murphy, a journalist who is on the trail of a headline story. He helps her, and they encounter...yes, some Shadow Demons. Blair is hurt by a Storm Demon that unleashes the storm power within her. Drew and Blair cannot deny the attraction they feel for each other and take the opportunity to get to know each other much closer, but later Drew finds out that Blair is his partner’s sister and is off limits. The power in Blair is threatening to rage out of control and the passion that grows between her and Drew could be the only thing that can stabilize her....or destroy them.

Sydney Somers does it again as she continues this action packed series with another gripping story. Here we have the playboy of the Shadow Destroyers group who finds and falls for his woman. This series is dark, humourous, intense and just fantastic. Again, Sydney Somers cleverly involves the reader as she commands the senses and emotions in this original story. Multi-faceted characters dominate the story, clever twists and turns keep the reader reading and the action is fast-paced whether swords are lopping off demon’s heads or the hero and heroine are engaging in some hot and sweaty sex. You get the feeling that the Shadow Destroyers are a tight knit family who care for each other. Drew has to really struggle with his feelings and emotions and poor Blair has to tackle the new powers that she has recieved. This is a series that I want in print and on a special place on my ‘to keep’ shelf. Please Ms. Somers, tell us that there will be more!

Welcome to Cynthia Eden's guest blog

Welcome Ms. Eden to Love Romances and More, thank you for joining us.

Thank you very much for inviting me over! Glad to be here!

Did you always want to become a writer?

Well, I knew I wanted to write pretty much as soon as I learned to read. I’ve always loved books—and wanting to write my own book has been an old dream for me.

What is the most, and the least interesting fact about writing?

Most interesting? Getting to create the characters. Since I write paranormals, I have the best time with my characters. I love creating my demons and vampires and shifters—and then turning them loose on the world. There’s no limit to the imagination when you write paranormals. Anything literally goes. And it is so much fun!

Now, the least interesting fact...writing is a very solitary life. Lots of time just by yourself, with the laptop. Long, quiet hours.

How did you celebrate your first release? What was it like to see your book in a bookstore? Do you have a special ritual for celebrating a book release?

I celebrated my first release with chocolate and wine—the way I celebrate them all! The first time I saw one of my books in a store, my jaw dropped. I started snapping pictures like a crazy woman. Seriously, the clerks at the store looked at me like I was crazy. All the while, I was saying, “That’s mine!” They gave me a look that said, “Um, yeah, when you buy it, weirdo.”

I guess having my chocolate is my book release ritual. Honestly, I am so nervous whenever a new book comes out. I go to the stores, try not to scare the clerks, and I snap my pictures. (Yep, I still do that.)

How did your family react to fact that you also write romance novels? Have your family read your books?

My family is amazingly supportive. My husband has read my books, so has my mom and my sister. My mom is great at PR—she takes bookmarks up to her beauty salon so all her friends can purchase my books when they hit the shelves. Gotta love a family that supports your dream!

Most authors are also avid readers. Is this the case with you? If so, who are some of your favorites? Have any influenced your writing?

I’m definitely an avid reader. If I go too long without reading a romance, I feel like I start to go through withdrawal. My favorite authors are Christine Feehan, Jayne Ann Krentz, Angela Knight, Lora Leigh, Linda Howard, Julie Garwood—oh, I could really just list dozens. My keeper shelves are exploding and I’m planning another trip to the bookstore very, very soon. I think all of the writers I listed have influenced my writing. Their stories are so great, their characters so real...they inspire me to be a better writer.

Your characters come to life in your books. Do you feel each of your characters live with you as you write? Do their lives sometimes take over a part of your life? Can you name an example? Do you have living role models for your characters?

Uh, oh. This is embarrassing, but, yes, I do feel like some of the characters live with me. One of my recent books (it’s a paranormal bounty hunter book I wrote for Kensington Brava) featured a white tiger shifter hero, Jude. I really started to enjoy Jude. So much so...I would insert the man into conversations. Ex. “Well, Jude would never say that...” and “If Jude were here, he’d think that was hilarious...” I was having such a great time writing his character that I kept thinking about what he would do in real-life situations. Yeah—that stopped when my husband looked at me one day and said, “You know he’s not real, right?”

Right.

I don’t generally have living role models for my characters, but I do find myself borrowing character traits from folks. Mixing and matching until I get the hero or heroine that I want.

Where do you get the inspirations for your books?

Everywhere. The ideas come to me all the time—and often from completely out of the blue. I have an Idea File that I use. When an idea comes to me, I type it in the file and save it for later. This is my fix to prevent writer’s block. So far, it’s working.

Do you find it difficult at times to write love scenes?

Yes, I think love scenes can often be the most challenging part of the book. The writer has to delicately balance the sensuality with the characters’ emotions. A tricky balance!

What is your favorite book from the books that you have written so far? Who are your favorite hero and heroine, and why?

I don’t know if I have a favorite. When I’m writing, that book is the favorite. I love the characters. Love the plot. It gets that favored status in my mind. But, then I start another book, and it becomes the favorite...and the cycle continues.

Since MIDNIGHT SINS is my current release, those characters are uppermost in my mind, so I’ll say the hero, Todd Brooks, and the heroine, Cara Maloan, are my favorites. I liked Todd because he is such a completely normal guy. No super powers, just a cop. He’s trying to do his job, but he winds up falling for his chief suspect in a murder investigation. The woman he falls for? Well, she turns out to be a succubus. And Cara—she was just fun to write. Pretty much immortal, very powerful, but the woman is weak when it comes to love.

Which book was the hardest to write and which the easiest?

The hardest book I wrote was MIDNIGHT’S MASTER (due out 07/09 from Kensington Brava). This book is about Niol, the demon introduced in HOTTER AFTER MIDNIGHT. This story was a challenge because, Niol, well, he’s evil. His character just gets darker in MIDNIGHT SINS. I had to redeem him enough to make him a worthy hero for his heroine in MIDNIGHT’S MASTER, and that proved a bit tricky. Sometimes, it’s hard to redeem a guy when he doesn’t want to be redeemed.

And the easiest story? IMMORTAL DANGER (04/09, again from Kensington Brava). This is my dragon shifter story. I’d wanted to write a dragon story for years—and this was my chance. I think I smiled the entire time I wrote this book. The heroine is a tough, ex-cop turned vampire, and my hero, Adam, ah, the guy is smoking hot. Literally.

If you could change places with one character from your books, who would it be and why?

I think I would want to be Cara Maloan from MIDNIGHT SINS. For just a day, I’d like to see what it’s like to be a succubus. To be able to sneak into someone’s dreams and to control thoughts—handy, but dangerous.

If you could travel through time to visit a special time period or famous person, what or who would it be and why?

I’d like to go back to the summer of 1816 and visit with Mary Shelley. I’d love to know more about her ideas for Frankenstein.

Do you listen to music while you are writing and if so what music is it?

No music for me. I usually write best when the house is nice and quiet.

If you could choose of your books for a movie, which one would it be and who would you as the cast?

I’d pick HOTTER AFTER MIDNIGHT. I’d choose Kate Beckinsale as Emily Drake, my monster doctor, and Gerard Butler as my wolf shifter hero, Colin. Such a good dream...

Are you working on anything right now, and can you tell us a teaser about these projects?

I’m finishing up the second book in my paranormal bounty hunter series. The heroine is a vampire hunter with a serious thirst for revenge and the hero is a vampire with a thirst for, well, her.

Big congrats to your newest release “Midnight Sins”, can you tell us something more about the book?

Thank you for the congrats! MIDNIGHT SINS is the second book in my Midnight trilogy and it picks up a few weeks after the close of HOTTER AFTER MIDNIGHT. Todd Brooks (Colin’s partner from HOTTER AFTER MIDNIGHT) faces a world unlike any he’s imagined. The blinders are off for him, and he’s about to come face to face with vampires and demons. And one demon in particular, Cara Maloan, will work her way right under his skin.

Thank you very much for taking the time to interview me! It was a pleasure!

Blurb of MIDNIGHT SINS:

Cara Maloan doesn’t look like a monster. In fact, the gorgeous blond nightclub singer possesses heavenly attributes that make Atlanta detective Todd Brooks sure there’s a higher power somewhere. But a twisted killer is leaving a trail of bodies in seedy hotel rooms across town. The male victims show no wounds–it’s as if the life was simply drained from them. And right now, mysterious Cara is Todd’s only suspect.

Cara knows it’s foolish to be so drawn to a man who thinks she’s a murderer. She also knows Detective Brooks would find the truth even harder to swallow. Cara is one of the Other, a race of powerful, paranormal creatures who live among humans. Cara’s particular abilities make men putty in her hands–all except this rugged, sexy-as-hell detective. But now someone, or something, has singled Cara out for serious payback…

As uneasy trust gives way to mind-blowing desire, Cara and Todd will go head-to-head with a killer whose mission is deeply personal, and who’s determined to serve up revenge that’s hotter than hellfire, and just as deadly…

Excerpt from MIDNIGHT SINS:
“Why do you do it?” Brooks asked, leaning toward her. He drew a ragged breath, as if inhaling her scent, then muttered, “You’re so damn beautiful, I bet it’s like fucking child’s play for you to lure those men to you.”
It always had been easy. She’d been born as a lure. Since his words were a bitter truth, Cara stayed silent. Reeling the men to her, no that had never been a problem.
None of the men had ever cared enough to stay with her.
An eternity of pleasure but a life lived alone. That was her lot in this world. The lot for all the succubi. She was just the only one not loving the deal.
“Do you get off on it?” Brooks asked, voice silky smooth. “Do you like the power? Like the control in bed?”
She swallowed. Sometimes, she wanted to lose control. To be taken.
His hand lifted, brushed across her cheek in a caress that lanced her flesh with its heat. “And at the end,” he said, pressing in even closer, so close that for a moment she thought he was going to kiss her, “when the pleasure is pounding through you, how does it feel to kill your lovers?”
What? “No, listen, I’ve never—”
He grabbed her hands, yanked them up and held her tight. Not hurting her. Trapping her. “How do you do it? Drugs? An injection?”
She twisted her hands, trying to break free. “I don’t know what you’re talking about!” A lie. Killing a lover was so easy.
But not her way.
“Right, princess.”
Her eyes narrowed at the mocking tone.
“You don’t have any idea why we’re here. You don’t know Michael House, and you have no idea how your ID came to be at our scene.”
“Wh-what—” She broke off, struggling to clear her throat. “What happened to Michael?” A murder scene, he’d said he found her bag at—
His lips tightened. “I thought you didn’t know him.”
“What happened?” She wrenched her hands away from him.
“Come down to the station, and I’ll be glad to tell you.”
She hurried back a few steps, and stumbled into the other guy—the shifter. Dammit, how had he moved so fast? When had the jerk circled behind her? “I’m not going anywhere with you.”
One dark brow lifted. “Wanna bet on that?”
Not particularly.
The shifter’s hands landed heavily on her shoulders. She jumped at the contact. His touch was cold to her skin, where Brooks had felt burning hot.
Brooks held her gaze. “You can do this the easy way and come with us willingly—”
“Or you can fight,” the shifter growled in her ear, “and still wind up finding your ass downtown.”
Oh, she didn’t like him. Didn’t like either of them. Her skin began to prickle as rage and power swept through her.
“Easy.” The whisper was so soft she might have imagined it. The shifter’s voice. Barely breathing in her ear.
She drew in a ragged gasp of air at the sound, drawing the cold oxygen deep into her lungs. Control. She couldn’t shatter in front of them. They were cops.
Cops who were suspecting her of—what? Assault? Murder?
If she put up a fight, and used her power, she’d never be safe in Atlanta again. She’d have to run, and she wouldn’t be able to stop running for a long, long time.
She wasn’t the type to run. Never had been.
Her chin lifted as she made her decision. “I’ll do it the easy way.”
The human’s lips began to curl.
“For now.”
That wiped the smug smile right off his handsome face.
