For vampire Talia Rostova, hiding in plain sight in Spookytown as parts of Fairview were called, was the best option she had. On the run from her malicious and mad sire, she tries to keep her head down and one eye on an escape route if things get too hot. But when someone kills her best friend in the apartment they share together, well let’s just say Talia is determined to get the hell out of dodge…if she wasn’t handcuffed to a hellhound’s bed that is.

Lore is a hallhound Alpha, bred to serve and protect but when he walks into Talia standing over a body, well let’s just say he assumes she is guilty but things are different with this vampire for Talia calls to him on some primal level. But she is a vampire and he needs a hellhound mate to keep his pack happy. But with an evil vampire king causing havoc, hunters running around and a snowstorm that will shut down a city, well let’s just say falling in love is the least of lore and Talia’s problems right now.

I absolutely adore Sharon Ashwood’s Dark Forgotten series and with her fourth book, she gives her readers Lore’s story. The story picks up months after Unchained and we are thick into the action right off the bat. The reader is thrust in a world of paranormal creatures, magic and politics as a general election featuring a vampire running for office for the first time has brought many paranormal creatures including vampires into Fairview that the local police-human and supernatural-are spread thin. This is one action packed story and one I spent on the edge of my seat with. You got mystery, mayhem and a budding romance that seems doomed from the start but Ms. Ashwood gives us characters that you can’t help but fall in love with. The writing is tight, story flows swiftly and with a few twists I didn’t see coming and the characters are very well written.

Meet Talia. She is on the run from her vampire sire and is determined to run as fast and far as she can to get away from the madman. But finding herself captive by a sexy hellhound…well that wasn’t on her to do list. Now trying to figure out if she can trust Lore, clear her name and keep her heart in tact well this is going to be harder than it looks. I liked Talia. She was sweet but a fighter once she finally accepted her vampire self. Finding out things about her family has helped her have closure while falling in love never seemed possible until she mete Lore. Lore is the alpha of the local hellhound pack and he exudes power. He is intrigued by his new and sexy prisoner and though he shouldn’t want her, he longs to possess her even for one night. These two struck sparks the first moment they laid eyes on one another. I loved the chemistry between them and felt they were a perfect match. Some returning characters from the past three books pop up and we are introduced to a few new ones, ones that had me wanting more of.

FROSTBOUND is one edge of the seat thrill ride from start to finish and I am really hoping the author doesn’t stop the series. I would love to know more about this fascinating world she has created as well as the creatures and humans who populate it. If you are looking for an action packed story to enjoy then grab this entire series. I do recommend reading it from the beginning just so you can get the full scope of the series but you can read this without getting too confused if you haven’t. FROSTBOUND is a perfect treat on a cold winter afternoon to enjoy.

Ashe Carver is one kick butt slayer. A motorcycle riding, gun toting woman who fears no one until a custody battle looms and she is forced to change her entire lifestyle to keep her daughter Eden. Ashe Carver former slayer needs to be a soccer mom and get a 9-to-5 job. Easier said than done…vampires want her for one reason or another, demons show up at her place of employment and a sexy guardsman from the Castle is on her doorstep asking for her help. Ashe finds out that within in a matter of weeks, Reynard means more to her than anyone has in a long time and love doesn’t follow set rules. Can she face all her trials before the clock runs out for Reynard?

UNCHAINED is one heck of a story. Fast paced storyline, a dangerously sexy hero, a kick ass heroine and a few twists that leave you gasping for air. Ms. Ashwood delivers all that and more with her third book in her acclaimed Dark Forgotten series. We meet some familiar characters from the first two books (Ravenous and Scorched) and we also meet a few new ones that leave the reader wondering if they will show up as main characters in the future. I do recommend that this series be read in order as there are some mentions from previous books.

Ashe Carver is a character I felt a deep connection to. We met her in RAVENOUS and she finally gets her chance at a happy ending. She is a woman with deep emotional scars and yes, even some physical ones from her past events that haunt her today. Ash is a character I could relate to. Haunted, scarred inside and afraid to trust someone new, she gives the reader glimpses of the vulnerable woman inside her whenever she is with Reynard and with her family. It made this character more sympathetic though I have to admit, I so do not want to meet her in a dark alley. She can get quite scary. Reynard is a man I want to gobble up with a spoon. He was sex on a stick and one I was determined to savor each time he walked on a page in UNCHAINED. Ms. Ashwood definitely gets kudos for creating some amazingly life-like characters in her series and I, for one, cannot get enough of them. Reoccurring characters pop back in UNCHAINED and show the reader glimpses of their lives with gusto. I found these moments to be worth its weight in gold as sometimes we never find out what is going on with these beloved characters in future books.

UNCHAINED is one of those rare books that is even better than the first two in the series. I found it to be action packed, full of mystery to keep me flipping the pages and when the last page was read, I sighed a bit in delight before I raced to the internet to find out when the next book was coming out. Ms. Ashwood is a talented storyteller who can deliver the reader hours of pure entertainment with her books. If you are looking for a paranormal romance series to enjoy, I highly recommend you grab this one and settle in for one wild ride.

The Castle. The name alone installs fear in the supernatural community and if you are thrown in there, the price is your soul for no one gets out ever again. Well that is until ex-detective Conall Macmillian gets thrown in there after the big battle that had him under the thrall of a soul sucking demon lover named Geneva. Now a year has passed and Mac has some control over his demon side and lost everything when it came to light that his lover was the demon who caused chaos and misery. He is trying to pick up the pieces but in the process is sucked back into the Castle, the supernatural prison that houses the worst of the worst and in one case, true innocence. Now he is asked to help save a child inside the Castle and the only chance Mac has is either turn his back on her or help her and risk losing that last bit of humanity-forever a demon.

SCORCHED picks up a year after RAVENOUS and it is one kick butt ride from start to finish. Ms. Ashwood doesn’t stint when it comes to the second book in her Dark Forgotten series. Pure action adventure, some of my favorite characters are back and mystery is afoot as the Castle’s magic/power is fading and chaos is entering the mysterious prison. Add in some new characters that keep the story from getting stale and a few twists that leave you with your mouth hanging open in surprise and you have got a story that will knock you on your butt. Ms. Ashwood is fast becoming my favorite author and her Dark Forgotten series is truly engrossing. Though you don’t need to read RAVENOUS in order to understand SCORCHED, I do recommend reading it just to see what happens as some things were mentioned that happened in that story.

We met Conell “Mac” Macmillian in RAVENOUS and this time he is dealing with the aftereffects of being a master demon’s pet and feeling his humanity going to the wind. With each page of SCORCHED, the reader is drawn into Mac’s story and even though I felt bad for him in RAVENOUS, I was also a little thrilled to see Holly and her vampire mate/lover Alessandro help him out (even if Alessandro wants to cut off his head and pound him into the dirt). The many different angles in the storyline keeps the reader glued to the pages and frankly, I couldn’t put it down. If you are looking for a fast paced, tightly written story with demons, mysteries, vampires, hell-hounds and more, then I highly recommend you grab SCORCHED and the rest of the Dark Forgotten series.

Holly Carver is a witch with a normal boyfriend and is going to college by paying for it by doing ghost busting. When she gets a job to bust a haunted house, she never expects to be battling a demon and it is one her family of witches had banished long ago. A supernatural war is brewing, ready to blow the lid off the world as she knew it and it is up to Holly and a few of her friends to fight it before it takes over everything she holds dear. Add in a sexy vampire partner, a prophecy and unreliable magic, poor Holly is about to find herself knee-deep in trouble.

RAVENOUS is the first book of Ms. Ashwood’s The Dark Forgotten series and frankly, I was blown away by it. An impulse buy for me, the blurb on the back wetted my appetite to know more and frankly, Ms. Ashwood didn’t disappoint either. Fast writing, intriguing characters, a mystery that keeps you glued to the seat of your pants, Ms. Ashwood delivers one spine tingling good time in RAVENOUS.

Meet Holly Carver, a small time witch who pays for college courses by busting ghosts. She comes from a long line of witches and after a childhood accident; her magic has been a little unreliable in regards to what she calls the “Big M”. When a routine house haunting job goes south and a demon starts wreaking havoc on her small town, Holly finds herself knee deep in a war that has been brewing for ages. Now the one demon her ancestor stopped once before is back and determined to take everything Holly holds dear, including Holly herself. Can Holly stop her in time before she takes any more victims? Holly is a spunky heroine who finds her world crashing down on her when secrets and desires come out in the open and she finds herself on every supernatural and otherwise hit list and not in a good way either. I loved the way she evolved throughout the pages. Ms. Ashwood delivers a complex heroine who finds her world changing right before her eyes. Add in her sexy vampire partner, Alessandro who is drawn to Holly yet is fighting himself not to give into his desires for her, Holly’s grand mom who keeps insisting vampires are like chocolate and others who keep the story flowing fast and furious. The secondary characters also pick up steam and keep the twists coming.

RAVENOUS delivers a wonderful ride on a roller coaster of emotions, desires and the supernatural world. Ms. Ashwood delivers a wonderful start in a series that will surely keep you enthralled. If you enjoy a different take on the paranormal world and magic, then grab RAVENOUS and get ready to explore a world where sometimes things just are not what they seem. I am hoping I won’t have to wait too long for the next installment in The Dark Forgotten Series.
