Ashe Carver is one kick butt slayer. A motorcycle riding, gun toting woman who fears no one until a custody battle looms and she is forced to change her entire lifestyle to keep her daughter Eden. Ashe Carver former slayer needs to be a soccer mom and get a 9-to-5 job. Easier said than done…vampires want her for one reason or another, demons show up at her place of employment and a sexy guardsman from the Castle is on her doorstep asking for her help. Ashe finds out that within in a matter of weeks, Reynard means more to her than anyone has in a long time and love doesn’t follow set rules. Can she face all her trials before the clock runs out for Reynard?

UNCHAINED is one heck of a story. Fast paced storyline, a dangerously sexy hero, a kick ass heroine and a few twists that leave you gasping for air. Ms. Ashwood delivers all that and more with her third book in her acclaimed Dark Forgotten series. We meet some familiar characters from the first two books (Ravenous and Scorched) and we also meet a few new ones that leave the reader wondering if they will show up as main characters in the future. I do recommend that this series be read in order as there are some mentions from previous books.

Ashe Carver is a character I felt a deep connection to. We met her in RAVENOUS and she finally gets her chance at a happy ending. She is a woman with deep emotional scars and yes, even some physical ones from her past events that haunt her today. Ash is a character I could relate to. Haunted, scarred inside and afraid to trust someone new, she gives the reader glimpses of the vulnerable woman inside her whenever she is with Reynard and with her family. It made this character more sympathetic though I have to admit, I so do not want to meet her in a dark alley. She can get quite scary. Reynard is a man I want to gobble up with a spoon. He was sex on a stick and one I was determined to savor each time he walked on a page in UNCHAINED. Ms. Ashwood definitely gets kudos for creating some amazingly life-like characters in her series and I, for one, cannot get enough of them. Reoccurring characters pop back in UNCHAINED and show the reader glimpses of their lives with gusto. I found these moments to be worth its weight in gold as sometimes we never find out what is going on with these beloved characters in future books.

UNCHAINED is one of those rare books that is even better than the first two in the series. I found it to be action packed, full of mystery to keep me flipping the pages and when the last page was read, I sighed a bit in delight before I raced to the internet to find out when the next book was coming out. Ms. Ashwood is a talented storyteller who can deliver the reader hours of pure entertainment with her books. If you are looking for a paranormal romance series to enjoy, I highly recommend you grab this one and settle in for one wild ride.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
