Her life may fall apart, but she picks herself up and moves on to a new project - teaching at a small college in Pennsylvania.

Pheobe thinks life in the sleepy little college town will be a place to recoup and regroup on her life plans. What she doesn't know is that she is walking into a clique of girls known amongst themselves as THE SIXES. These mean spirited girls are playing on Pheobe's fears and past experiences with bullying in school. When a murder in the town takes place, it all leads back to the college - and Pheobe finds herself caught up in a deadly game.

The second thriller written by Kate White, the editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan magazine was fast paced, heart stopping and brilliant. This has to be the best read of the summer of 2011 for this reader! Her first novel was well written but left me wanting more - and Ms. White definitely delivered in THE SIXES.

Having been a college student at one time, I spent most of my reading time being thankful to never have come across THE SIXES. Ms. White has brought her characters, their mean spirited nature and all to life with her words. This book reads like a lifetime movie making readers cry for the innocent, feel for the harmed and hate those who are causing harm. I highly recommend this novel to all readers who wish to be haunted by what could have been...

Lake Warren has been struggling to move on after she separates from her husband and when she finds out he is suing her for full custody of their children she sets out to have a weekend fling before her children return from summer camp. After her attorney advises her she needs to watch herself more than normal and know that anything she does could be used against her, she knows her life will need to be more normal than ever when they return home. When a co-worker offers her a night of passion, she finds herself in his bed.

When Lake awakens in the middle of the night and realizes what she has done, she walks outside on the balcony to get some air and finds herself dozing in the patio chair. Upon awakening she walks into the bedroom to find Dr. Keaton murdered in his own bed. She flees the scene knowing she will be the likely suspect and that for her children's sake she must remain under the radar.

HUSH is a fast paced novel filled with drama, tense moments and tears. Lake Warren is a character that readers will find entertaining, heartfelt and loving. Her kids mean the world to her, and she will do anything to keep them safe. When she realizes her life may be in danger from what someone thinks she may have witnessed, she knows the killer must be caught - before her kids come home. The drama and the effects of her emotions shine through leaving the reader waiting for more. This is definitely a page turner!

Kate White is a talented author! Her first thriller definitely deserves its place on the New York Times Best Seller List and should be devoured by any reader who wants to be forced to turn the page. It is a book to be devoured quickly, putting it down is not an option. While at times the scenes unfolding felt over done, it was not possible to stop reading - I just had to know, what was next!

Ms. White's second thriller, THE SIXES is on shelves in hardback, and I cannot wait to being turning the pages!
