The Latest News On Margie Church

If someone hasn't read any of your work, what book would you recommend that they start with and why?

Hard as Teak. Discounting whether someone enjoys M/M erotic romance, this book is erotic, poetic, suspenseful and a great love story. I think it shows my ability to take a rather touchy situation and put believability all over it. There are some wonderful supporting characters – Drew got his own book, Krewe Daddy after I wrote Hard as Teak.

If you could be a character in any of your books who would it be and why?

Amy from the Razor series. Although she might seem kind of superficial at first, this woman has an amazing capacity to love, and share what she loves. She's our closet kinkster in the series, exhibiting unabashed joy in discovering what turns her on. Amy is a free-spirit in many ways, but also loyal, caring, sensitive, talented, and smart. If I could set aside my real life and all its obligations, I would have liked to be like Amy.

Looking over the past year, what has been the best moment for you in your writing career?

I had an agent ask for the full on my newest manuscript. No contract yet, but that is very encouraging.

What do you enjoy doing with your spare time, your non-writing time?

I like snowshoeing in the winter, and fishing in the summer. Watching my son perform in Minnesota Brass Drum and Bugle Corps. I love going to the opera with my sister and my mom and spending time together shopping and hanging out. I like craft projects, raising roses, watching the stars, riding my bike with my son. I really don't take much time off. Between my job and writing books and my family, I don't even sleep much.

If you could invite any famous person, dead or alive, for lunch, who would it be and what would you eat?

Tiger Woods. The man's golfing skills never ceases to amaze me. His personal issues aside, I'd love to learn about the businessman, the strategist and what it really takes to reach his type of success. What are his dreams and how does he envision his life in twenty years. We'd enjoy a fresh crab salad and sparking water.

We Catch Up With Margie Church

How would you describe yourself using only five words?

Unpredictable, talented, funny, genuine, friendly

Do you have any guilty pleasures?

Um yeah. Do I have to disclose them? I love top shelf whiskey and bourbon, over ice or straight up…sitting on the dock at sunset and watching the loons skate across the lake.

Name one thing readers would be surprised to know about you.

I'm 20? Yeah, that would be a huge surprise since I'm not.

How do you get yourself in the mood to write?

I sit at the keyboard. It's like a drug.

What is the most glamorous thing you’ve done as an author?

I went to New York City for a book club meeting – I also got to meet my co-author in the Razor Series – K.B. Cutter.

Friday Guest Author Day with Margie Church

Please give a warm welcome to author Margie Church who sat down with me and chatted about Love's Storm (Razor book two) and a few other things I just had to know.

Do you have any guilty pleasures?
Yeah…getting a massage is my newest. Reading the morning paper while enjoying freshly brewed coffee with homemade scones. Top-shelf whiskey.

If we asked your muse to describe you using five words, what do you think they would say?
Driven. Obsessive. Unbridled. Open. Risk-taker.

What is the strangest source of writing inspiration you’ve ever had?
A photograph of the Heidleberg Castle in Germany inspired a 2-book vampire series. Further the concept of that ancient castle watching over the city became the vampire, Wade Kairos.

If your muse were to talk behind your back, what secrets would they tell?
That I don't have a backlog of stories half-started or a tickler file of ideas for books I want to write. Scary isn't it?

Are your characters able to love or do they need to be taught?
Across the board, I think my books have one character that is better at love than the other. I think that makes the story more interesting. People are flawed, my characters always are.

Can you tell us about your WIP?
I'm in the early chapters of a gay, Christmas romance. The working title is Love on the Airwaves. It's about a celebrity voiceover talent who falls for a guy running a daycare center.

What can readers expect from you?
Never the same thing twice. Even if they're reading a series, the characters are going to grow, change. The story is going to have twists and turns that aren't predictable. I tackle subjects and conflicts that aren't typical in romances. Life is complicated. People are, too. Marrying those concepts makes my books fascinating.

Thanks for coming. Is there anything else you want to add?
I'm thrilled to share the second book in the Razor series with you. Love's Storm came out today. It's a fascinating psycho-emotional drama about three lovers who want much more than a one night stand.

Razor: Love's Storm by Margie Church and K.B. Cutter

Their delicious, naughty secret is out, and it's open season on Amy and Bryce's decision to add a third person to their marriage.

All the talking in the world can't convince critics that Amy and Bryce's marriage is rock-solid, and there are no secrets between them. Business associates, friends, and family condemn their choice to live and love in a polyamorous relationship with Raine, a FemDom. Others meddle to undermine Bryce's business and marriage. Even Raine's Master thinks she's making a huge mistake.

With no allies, and scorn coming from every direction, love and determination must lead Amy, Bryce, and Raine through love's storm.

Their journey began in Razor: Desire's Edge and continues in Razor: Love's Reflection.

Three hot and sexy stories set within the world of the paranormal. The darkness surrounds you as you try to ignore the red eyes, the feeling of being watched and as you finally succumb to the darkness, pleasure awaits in ways you only imagined. Get ready to be BOUND AFTER MIDNIGHT.

First up is Finding Eternity by Sascha Illyvich. When a vampire saves warrior Solan, he finds himself drawn to the beauty even as he tries to resist the desire she causes in him. All he knows is fighting but when he loses Katherine, the woman he has grown to love, he finds that life is more than fighting. It is about love, hope and more.

This first story really was a hit or miss for me. I was a little confused by the setting. At first I thought it was in the past but then the future then back to the past….well you get the idea. It was never clear where the story was set and wished it was a bit more clearer though I do have to admit, I really liked the character development in this story. In novellas, that aspect is a hit or miss in my opinion as well but Mr. Illyvich delivers a some intriguing characters to enjoy. The story was extremely hot so I warn you, get those ice cubes or warn your significant other because it is about to be one hot night.

The next story is Cream on the Crop by Margie Church. When a politican’s daughter escapes to her newly bought farm, she doesn’t expect to find a ghost or desire.

I absolutely loved this one. Margie Church delves into the world where a ghost can martilize at will, seduce Neha and both find the love they long for. This is one hot story. Lots of sexy bdsm action and the reader are drawn into this story completely. I loved the connection between Neha and Jamaal and found their characters to be well written.

Finally we have Bonni Sansom’s Hunter’s Bounty. Vampire Lana is tasked to finding Devon’s sister and in the process finds a man who she can fall in love with, if she just let’s herself believe in it again.

I got to admit, I loved this one the most. Ms. Sansom’s story is a roller coaster of a ride that leaves you breathless. The sex scenes are hot and the story flows at a nice even pace. I loved the connection between Lana and Devon and the twist at the end left me shocked. A very nice ending to this hot anthology.

Overall, BOUND AFTER MIDNIGHT gives the reader three lovely tales of the paranormal that will surely heat your night up. I do recommend keeping a towel near by or your partner for this anthology is one hot read from start to finish. Though the stories vary in strength, put it all together and all three novellas are a satisfying read to soothe any reader who needs their paranormal &/or BDSM fix. I look forward to more from these three authors in the future.

Luis is a much sought after Daddy, a lover who is well liked and wanted by many but Luis’s lifestyle is wearing him out. He has no idea how to jump off the social life he has lived for so many years. Can finding the one man who left him, amid bitter accusations and long pent up passion be able to help Luis find the peace he craves?

Drew left Luis six years before when his insecurities over his relationship with Luis got the better of him and he had an affair. Now he is unable to commit to anyone and though he tries to forget Luis, the man has a hold onto his heart that no one else ever had. When they finally meet again, instead of saying ‘Hi, how are you?’ snarky comments and more fly out by them both. Can these two find a way to bridge the gap between them before they lose the one good thing in their life-each other?

When I heard the secondary character from HARD AS TEAK had gotten his own story, I was jumping for joy. Drew was funny, sexy and lovable in the first book and he also had secrets that I, as a reader, wanted to find out more of. Margie Church delivers a story that will alternately thrill you and make you cry. The story itself is like riding a roller coaster of emotions. You smile, sigh, shout and swear as Luis and Drew find their way back to one another. Margie Church is a talented author who knows how to write an angst filled, simmering sexual tension, story that leaves you gasping for air. It has suspense, sex that is at times tender and then hot as Hades and a love that won’t be denied.

Meet Drew. When he was with Luis, the lifestyle Luis led made Drew’s insecurities flare uncontrollably and on one particular night, Drew gave in to them. One affair later, Drew walks away from Luis amid harsh and bitter words, leaving behind a man who holds his heart completely. Now six years later, Drew has grown, matured (or he hopes anyways) and is incredibly lonely. He wants what his friends Mark and Teak have yet he is afraid of letting anyone in since Luis broke his heart. I loved Drew in HARD AS TEAK but here in KREWE DADDY, he shines. Margie Church creates a character that is multi-dimensional, intriguing and also complex. Drew is a person I would love to meet and be friends with. Luis at first just irritated me. He was full of arrogance, pride and ego and that turned me off a bit. What surprised me was how that melted away when he finds himself searching for Drew mid-way through the book. Then the readers see the real man behind the name. That was when he stole my heart completely. The sparks fly the minute these two meet up again and man, I was sweating at times as Drew and Luis tried to work out their past in order to see if they had a future together. There were a few secondary characters that had me grinning at times as well as gnashing my teeth in order not to kill them. They were well written and moved the story along as well.

KREWE DADDY is more than a story about Mardi Gras but a story of two people finding that love can be strong, true and enjoyable the second time around. With each page of this latest book of Ms. Church’s, the reader is pulled in the story, having them fall in love with the characters and learning along with Luis and Drew that love is indeed sweeter the second time around.

Very well done, Ms. Church. I am eager to see what else you have in store for your readers in the future.

Kevin Marks is tired of his life. It’s the “same old shit, just a different day” type of days lately that leave him confused and not as energized as he once was in all aspects of his life. He has no idea what to do so he escapes to his childhood cabin. There he hopes to rediscover his passion for photography and maybe find the answers he is searching for.

Meeting Teak Hidalgo was something he was so not anticipating. He radiated sex appeal to the extreme and with one touch Kevin is lost in his arms. Teak takes Kevin on a sensual journey as Kevin explores his growing desire to be with a man-namely Teak. Can Kevin find the strength to accept who he is, once and for all, and find the relationship he has searched for in Teak’s arms?

The moment I spied the cover for HARD AS TEAK and read the blurb, something compelled me to buy this book. It could have been the hot cover, the intriguing blurb or the fact I was in a mood to read something a bit different. I got that plus a whole lot more. Margie Church delivers her first foray into the M/M genre with her feet running out of the gate. She breaks boundaries with creating a seemingly heterosexual man who finds out that hey, he isn’t into women as much as he thought. The conflict Kevin faces is more internal than external. It may not make everyone happy that they don’t have some angst filled drama on every page. That’s ok though. She added an element of real life that happens everywhere in the world and that is what made this story relatable to me. Who hasn’t heard or known people who find their sexual orientation isn’t as cut and dried as they thought?

The story flowed nicely with some twists that had me gasping; some of the most romantic sex scenes I have every read between two people and yes, they were hot as hell too. I recommend making sure to have an ice bucket or a cold shower afterwards to cool down. This is a coming of age story of one man finding out he is more complex than he thought with feelings for someone he never anticipated meeting or having a romantic relationship with.

Meet photographer Kevin Marks. He is dissatisfied with his life, feels like he is in a rut-professionally and personally. Taking off to his childhood cabin, Kevin meets Teak, a rugged man who stirs feelings in Kevin he had no idea he would experience with a man before. Can Kevin work through his issues before he lets the one person who is meant to be his slip through his fingers?

What I loved about Teak and Kevin was how they acted like mature, sensible adults through the entire storyline. There was no melodrama, whining or even angry angst to deal with. It was a breath of fresh air so to speak to read this. I fell hard for both Kevin and Teak as I met them in the beginning and found myself rooting for them to be together forever. Teak is sexy as sin and had me wondering if I can take a walk in the woods for my own version of a sexy outdoorsman. The sexual tension alone simmers and flares repeatedly between Teak and Kevin which left me squirming in my seat more times I can count. There were a few secondary characters that left me wondering if I could either give them a good smack down or a big hug. They made the story flow smoothly and enhanced the story nicely. Ultimately this is about the growing relationship between Kevin and Teak and it was perfectly captured by the author.

HARD AS TEAK is a sweet, sexy tale of two people finding their way to the one person they are meant to be with, be it man or woman. Ms. Church delivers a story that had me on the edge of my seat, eager to find out what will happen next for Kevin and Teak. If you are looking for a hot story with a heart of gold to enjoy that can heat up your night, then I suggest you try HARD AS TEAK. I am hoping Ms. Church comes back to these beloved characters in the future. I would love to see what they are up to and maybe have a glimpse into their sexy life together.
