For vampire Talia Rostova, hiding in plain sight in Spookytown as parts of Fairview were called, was the best option she had. On the run from her malicious and mad sire, she tries to keep her head down and one eye on an escape route if things get too hot. But when someone kills her best friend in the apartment they share together, well let’s just say Talia is determined to get the hell out of dodge…if she wasn’t handcuffed to a hellhound’s bed that is.

Lore is a hallhound Alpha, bred to serve and protect but when he walks into Talia standing over a body, well let’s just say he assumes she is guilty but things are different with this vampire for Talia calls to him on some primal level. But she is a vampire and he needs a hellhound mate to keep his pack happy. But with an evil vampire king causing havoc, hunters running around and a snowstorm that will shut down a city, well let’s just say falling in love is the least of lore and Talia’s problems right now.

I absolutely adore Sharon Ashwood’s Dark Forgotten series and with her fourth book, she gives her readers Lore’s story. The story picks up months after Unchained and we are thick into the action right off the bat. The reader is thrust in a world of paranormal creatures, magic and politics as a general election featuring a vampire running for office for the first time has brought many paranormal creatures including vampires into Fairview that the local police-human and supernatural-are spread thin. This is one action packed story and one I spent on the edge of my seat with. You got mystery, mayhem and a budding romance that seems doomed from the start but Ms. Ashwood gives us characters that you can’t help but fall in love with. The writing is tight, story flows swiftly and with a few twists I didn’t see coming and the characters are very well written.

Meet Talia. She is on the run from her vampire sire and is determined to run as fast and far as she can to get away from the madman. But finding herself captive by a sexy hellhound…well that wasn’t on her to do list. Now trying to figure out if she can trust Lore, clear her name and keep her heart in tact well this is going to be harder than it looks. I liked Talia. She was sweet but a fighter once she finally accepted her vampire self. Finding out things about her family has helped her have closure while falling in love never seemed possible until she mete Lore. Lore is the alpha of the local hellhound pack and he exudes power. He is intrigued by his new and sexy prisoner and though he shouldn’t want her, he longs to possess her even for one night. These two struck sparks the first moment they laid eyes on one another. I loved the chemistry between them and felt they were a perfect match. Some returning characters from the past three books pop up and we are introduced to a few new ones, ones that had me wanting more of.

FROSTBOUND is one edge of the seat thrill ride from start to finish and I am really hoping the author doesn’t stop the series. I would love to know more about this fascinating world she has created as well as the creatures and humans who populate it. If you are looking for an action packed story to enjoy then grab this entire series. I do recommend reading it from the beginning just so you can get the full scope of the series but you can read this without getting too confused if you haven’t. FROSTBOUND is a perfect treat on a cold winter afternoon to enjoy.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement
