Five stories of the gods of Mount Olympus enthrall the readers’ with such delectable delights that include Ares, Poseidon, Apollo, Adrian and Dionysus all find that love comes when you least expect it. Get ready for the NECTOR OF THE GODS.
First up was Warrior Lover by Marianne LaCroix which kicks off this fabulous anthology full of gods/goddesses, mortals and historical events that play over the pages of NECTOR OF THE GODS. In Warrior Lover, we meet Ares, God of War who doesn’t believe that he needs to love. A “love’em & leave ‘em” type, he shuns the soft emotions of love…that is until one cool night he meets the woman who has the face of a goddess and a warrior’s heart. It’s 1944 and the day before D-Day and Ares is deep in the fight for peace in WWII. When he lays eyes on Belle, a French Resistance fighter, he loses his cool and finds himself falling for the one woman who keeps him on his toes. Will Ares be able to let the one woman find her destiny or will he keep her locked up, safe from all harm in a gilded cage?
Oh my, this was one very hot beginning to the NECTOR OF THE GODS anthology. Ms. LaCroix delves right into war, love and the way the gods/goddesses play with mortals right off the bat. With the right amount of passion, adrenaline and purpose, she delivers a story that will keep you reading even after the story is done. I really enjoyed the way Belle went toe to toe with Ares over his highhandedness and the characters really come alive in Warrior Lover. Ms. LaCroix does a fabulous job capturing her characters and the way she made the setting of the story come alive made me feel like I was there beside them. This was a very satisfying start to the anthology.
Next up was Oh My God by Ashlyn Chase. This one had me laughing hysterically in spots and then moaning in delight over the antics of Dionysus, the god of wine, women and song. After falling down and bumping his head, Big D as he is called by people he doesn’t remember, finds himself trying to figure out who the heck he is. In the process, he meets two beautiful women who convince him that in order to give up one very bad habit, he must replace it with another. Is this the key to being stone cold sober. Can the Big D find out who he is before it is too late? Will Mandy and Brandy be able to help Dionysus with his identity crisis and in the process maybe find love as well?
Ms. Chase does a masterful job in capturing Dionysus and the way he had flashes of a life he just couldn’t remember had me giggling like mad. Add in two very naughty women and some well meaning siblings, stir it all together and you get delicious chaos. This is one fun; rollicking good time in the Big Easy and MS. Chase definitely gives some sizzle to Dionysus and the women in his life.
Next up was Fate Unbound by Isabelle Drake. A story of oracles, children of the god Zeus and finding out what you really want in life. Meet Taryn, a woman forced to leave her home in Ancient Greece, used to being adored for her beauty and body and having to deal with an Oracle’s declaration: She must submit to all men who ask of it of her yet she cannot the same. In the process, she will find the one man who will desire submission of her and in the process be the right man for her. What Taryn hates is the way her life just went to hell in a hand basket very quickly. Thrust in modern LA, bored and restless, she finds the one man who makes her long for something more; the one man she thought she left behind in Ancient Greece.
Fate Unbound was a nice way to recharge after reading the first two passionate stories. Full of intriguing characters and an oracle’s declaration, Ms. Drake delves into Taryn and Adrian’s story with abandon and delivers a sensual twist that will leave you breathless.
Apollo’s Choice by Sascha Illyvich was a fun read with Apollo finding himself banished after years of popularity on Mount Olympus by Hera. Cursed in a body of a bass player for some grunge band, he tries to find a way back to the life he had and the powers he used. It is only when a delectable redheaded beauty has him thinking with his heart when the opportunity comes for him to go back home. Will Apollo chose love over hearth?
Author Sascha Illyvich does a wonderful job delivering a passionate yet strong story that captures Apollo’s emotions and the way he has to make a decision between going home or to the woman who holds his heart. With strong strokes of the pen, Sascha brings the story alive with the right amount of erotic passion, intrigue and multidimensional characters that pull you in and don’t let go, even after the last page is read.
Finally, Possessing Poseidon by Annmarie Ortega was the climatic ending of this fabulous anthology. Greek god Poseidon falls for Beth a woman with a past, one that will find past and present collide when secrets come out in the open and Beth finds that her lover, Den has a secret that will change the way she looks at him. Can Poseidon keep Beth alive long enough to see that some things are worth fighting for?
The final story in this enthralling anthology came from author Annmarie Ortega and has Poseidon falling in love with a mortal woman who only knows him as Den. Beth has a dangerous secret, one that will force Den’s secrets to the surface and have him racing to convince Beth that the love they share is real after all. An interesting twist on this God and very well written, Ms. Ortega delivers a coupe de grace with Possessing Poseidon and delivers a story that will keep you gasping for more after the final page is read.
NECTOR OF THE GODS is a delightful anthology full of randy gods and the women who tame them, though if one of these guys comes for me, I just might melt. Each author delivers a beautiful and rich story that captivates you and will deliver some spine tingling moans of delight in the process. Run to grab this wonderfully amusing anthology and get ready to enjoy the antics of some delectable gods of Olympus.
