Nicholas Lyon, a divorce attorney has seen it all. He never thought he would be caught up in an extramarital affair but he is. Sara Kaplan is the woman who leads him down the path that will destroy his world. Malinche Lyon, wife and mother, her perfect life is torn apart by Nicholas and Sara’s affair. How these three people deal with the affects of their actions is honestly dealt with within this book.

Nicholas is a successful man with a beautiful wife and three children. He attracts the attention of a younger colleague, Sara who does her best to seduce him. Nicholas who is supposedly quite intelligent lets his lower region control his brains. Nicholas and Sara’s actions turns Malinche’s world upside down. The author tackles many themes including how tough marriage is and the difficulty in keeping a relationship fresh. All three characters undergo extensive changes as the story progresses. The characters are fully developed and readers become emotionally invested with their story. It is quite easy to dislike Sara and Nicholas but the author gives the reader more to consider. We get perspectives from each of the major characters and it gives the readers deep insight into their psyche. It is extremely thought provoking story that will have readers thinking about it long after you have finish reading it.

THE ADULTERY CLUB is a wonderfully written book that will take you for an emotional ride. At the end, the reader will feel empathy for each of the central characters and a deeper understanding of human relationships. Readers will realize that the world is not black or white but there is a middle ground that is shaded grey. We look forward to reading more books by Ms. Stimson.
