All this reviewer can say is WOW!! THE DARKEST NIGHT is one of those books that will keep you reading till the wee hours of the night just to see what happens next as this reviewer found out. With each page, Ms. Showalter delivers a fast paced ride with a cast of characters that will leave you longing to be possessed by one just to feel what it is like!! Ms. Showalter has done it again with her newest series, Lords of the Underworld. A show stopping ride from start to finish with tight writing and characters that leave you breathless with the desire to know what will happen next.
Meet Ashlyn, a woman with a growing power she has no idea how to control or understand. Coming to Budapest was a last resort for her as she has heard of these mythical men who help the village and are angels of mercy to them, never expecting in all her years to meet the one man who can inflame her with a single glance and touch her with so much passion. Then there is Maddox, the one warrior who has the demon that causes him to go to the edge of insanity and back again night after night. Strong, alpha to the core and just as deadly, he takes one look at Ashlyn and finds a love like no other…that is if he can stay alive long enough to enjoy it! What a combination of main characters Ms. Showalter has created. With her finest sword, she has made two unlikeliest of people find the love that will not be denied and strengthens the story to the degree where this reviewer was rooting for them to be together for eternity. Multidimensional and complex, this is an author who delves deep into the psyche of her characters and what she brings forth will blow you away. She introduces you, also, to the other immortals as well and this reviewer is salivating for more!
THE DARKEST NIGHT is definitely a surefire way to spend a cozy winter night. Be prepared to have your butt go numb from reading in one position for so long, it is that engrossing. Ms. Showalter has hit the ground running with this one and this reviewer is anxious for the next one. Run, don’t walk, to grab this one and be prepared to pre-order the others as well! Ms. Showalter has definitely delivered a diamond amid the stars!
