Francesca Marinelli was trapped underground for more than 200 years till she was discovered during the renovation of a Victorian house in St. Augustine. Soon a tourist attraction as the one and only Vampire in the city, she gets a job as an Old Ghost Town Tour guide. The only thing she wants now is to enjoy her new afterlife, but suddenly she is the suspect in a strange murder case, has a stalker and the preternatural crime special investigator Deke Saber awakens her so far non-existent love life.

Ms. Haddock delivers with LA VIDA VAMPIRE an intriguing and fascinating debut novel. The story is like no other that I have read before, especially because Francesca is not the typical Vampire heroine. Ms. Haddock gives the whole vampire lore a new twist. Who knew that Vampires enjoy surfing or shopping at Wal-Mart and Bealls? But she is not the only fascinating character, there is also the mysterious but oh so sexy Deke Saber as well as many other interesting secondary characters.

LA VIDA VAMPIRE is a perfect combination of mystery, romantic and funny elements. The story caught my interest on the first page and I just had to keep reading, because I couldn’t put it down. For me it’s the best debut novel that I have read in the last few months and I am really looking forward to reading more books by this author. Ms. Haddock is an author you want to keep an eye on. She is definitely a rising star in the world of Paranormal Chick Lit.
