Mack Whittaker hates being the center of attention more than anything. He does not want to be a hero, or known for his good deeds. He just wants to be left alone to be a deputy and to live his life. He values his privacy for good reasons, he was wounded in Iraq, and has demons to bear. When the sheriff leaves him in charge while he is on his honeymoon, his only concern is the reporter coming to do a special story on their local police department.

Chloe Atherton comes to Applegate looking for a story that will showcase her writing skills and make her by lines stronger. She is tired of writing fluff pieces and wants to move up as a reporter. When she meets Mack she knows there is more to him than he lets on, and as he pushes her away she finds more reasons to want to feature him in her story. Chloe appeals to Mack on a level that neither of them understands – until they start letting their secrets come out, and they find that both have secrets that need unlocking.

Chloe is a great heroine who gives humor to a tale while still becoming a real character with hopes and dreams. As she fights to push back her past, and her sister’s death she learns to cope and to look to the future for happiness. As Mack gets to know her, she realizes just how great he is and wants to show him what his community already knows.

Mack wants to be left alone; he doesn’t feel like a hero, he feels like he failed his friend in Iraq by living, when he died. Chloe and the citizen’s of Applegate know he is a hero, he is kind, loving and giving of himself. He helps support not only his parents, but the widow of his friend who died in the war. He is a man every reader will want to know and love.

Great characters take a story a long way, but what Amy Frazier brings to novels is more than her characters, it’s the way she brings out the best and the worst in them, and gives enough details to keep the story moving at a comfortable pace. She is a talented writer whose novels stay alive in readers minds long after the last page has ended.

Amy Frazier writes series romance at its best, and this is no exception. FALLING FOR THE DEPUTY is a must read in this Super Romance lover’s eyes.
