His time as a vampire hunter hadn’t prepared Jacob to accept a world where humans are sexual commodities. Now, as a full servant he must now attend to Lady Lyssa’s every need. She leads him deep into the world and politics of the Vampire community and makes him do things that tear at his soul. The integrity of his soul is challenged as he serves his Mistress’ needs as much as he serves her desires. The other servants warn against giving her his soul, but Jacob loves her like no other. He has always loved her, through many lives. His Mistress needs a warrior, a friend and a lover. Jacob is her protector and will endure any humiliation to do so; a man that will serve her fully, even if he has to betray the treasure of her love.

This is a tremendously poignant story full of emotions. Not for the faint hearted, this story is full of hot sex of all kinds, emotional and full of meaning. It’s a story perfectly blended with emotion, suspense and romance. It’s dark, with the lines of good and evil nicely blurred; just how I like a vampire tale. I had a hard time to put it down, the characters found their way into my heart. I was stirred and charmed while reading this wonderful story. I would have rather read it all in one sitting and all I could think about was when I could pick it up again. Ms. Hill has done a marvelous job on vampire lore and politics and it’s a book that is not only going on my keeper shelf but will be re-read.
