Hot muscle cars, hotter Army Rangers, mysterious women and fast paced action are just a few of the things you can expect to find in Tara Janzen’s much anticipated ninth book in her Steele Street series, LOOSE AND EASY, hitting bookstores late August, 2008.
Bad boy Army Ranger Johnny Ramos has just come off his fourth tour of duty in Afghanistan to find his childhood crush, Esmee Alden, the smartest girl he ever knew, turning tricks? Impossible. The next thing he knows, Johnny finds himself hot on the heels of sweet Esmee as she races through the streets of Denver in order to dig her father out of his latest gambling debt by playing art recovery expert while more than one group of thugs tries to stop her.
Like all the books in Tara Janzen’s Steele Street series, LOOSE AND EASY delivers everything readers look for in a suspense filled adrenaline packed romance, bad boys turned warrior soldiers, heroines that find love when they aren’t looking for it, sticky predicaments and unique to this series of books, some really sweet muscle cars.
What this reader liked was that the heroine wasn’t in over her head in need of a strong soldier to save her. Esmee is a trained private investigator that seems well able to take care of herself. Instead of being her savior, Johnny serves as her much appreciated back-up while her usual partner is taking care of another part of the investigation and en route to meeting her. Johnny can’t help but remember the young girl he used to know.
The other part of the story that this reader really enjoyed was their attraction, very much still in evidence even after years of separation and both taking different paths for their lives. You can almost feel the buildup of sexual tension until these two finally turn the sheets to ash with their fire.
Even if you haven’t read any of the other books in Tara Janzen’s Steele Street series, if you are looking for an action packed romantic suspense, LOOSE AND EASY is well worth the purchase price.
