Davina McLaren is to marry Marshall Rose, the Earl of Lorne, known as the Devil of Ambrose. There are rumors swirling about him as he is a loner. However, Davina has no choice as no man would want her for a wife especially with the scandal that surrounds her.

The lead couple is totally likable. Davina is a fabulous heroine. She is outspoken, brave and it is hard to dismiss her. Marshall wants to do just that but Davina will not allow him to put her aside. He is a tortured man who has a great fear about his state of mind. Davina is a woman who fights for her man and she doesn’t know when to give up. It is her tenacious nature that stands out. The author does a wonderful job of developing the characters as they come across as real people with human flaws. They are a great pairing as they each try to get what they want. It is truly a battle of wills and readers will want to know who wins. As a couple, they have great chemistry together. The growing affection and love is apparent to all.

THE DEVIL WEARS TARTAN is a lovely romance with characters you will become emotionally invested in. Davina and Marshall are very memorable as their story is told. Readers will empathize with their personal situation and want them to have their happily ever after. I have enjoyed the previous books written by Ms. Ranney and this is no exception.
