Brenda Williamson’s HER SAVAGE LOVER is a sweet western romance that tells the tale of two lovers reunited after a father’s prejudice kept them apart for almost ten years.
When her abusive father dies, Eden Cruthers and her young son Charlie are finally free to return to the ranch where she first discovered love with half-Indian Brant Sullette. While Eden has dreams of a happy reunion with her son’s father, her dreams are dashed when Brant rides up on his horse and demands to take her son to live with him and his Indian tribe. But when he sees Eden’s terror at being parted from her son, he reluctantly agrees to take Eden as well.
Brenda Williamson’s HER SAVAGE LOVER is a touching love story set in the Wild West at a time when Indians still roamed the plains and prejudice ran deep. Though Williamson’s writing style allows readers to empathize with both characters, the story length, or lack thereof, really doesn’t do justice to this author. The story is extremely brief at only fifty pages. That brevity makes it difficult for Williamson to do more than describe a cautious reunion between the lead characters with very little in the way of surprises to flesh out the story. HER SAVAGE LOVER really should be part of an anthology so that this author’s work can be sampled by a broader range of readers who can better appreciate her literary efforts. Still, Aspen Mountain Press is only asking $2.50 and at that price, HER SAVAGE LOVER is probably well worth the price tag.
