Sir Alexander MacGruder gets the order to kidnap an English Baron because the ransom money is needed to support the Scottish fight against the English. Unfortunately the baron is nowhere in sight when Alexander storms the castle, so he makes the quick decision to kidnap the baron’s sister. He never thought that he would complicate the whole situation with the kidnapping of Lady Westcourt, but he is falling for the enemy. But is there a chance for a Scottish/British couple in the time of the Scottish rebellion against the British? Will love really conquer all?
Ms. Cosby delivered with HIS CAPTIVE a stunning debut novel. The book transports its reader back to the times of William Wallace and the Scottish rebellion. The way Ms. Cosby tells the story, you get the feeling you are part of the scenery, you just have to close your eyes and you will see everything. The story is a wonderful mixture of historical and romantic elements. The readers are witness how the feelings develop between Alexander and Nicola, as well as Alexander’s inner struggle because of his feelings toward Nicola and his duty to his homeland. As you will see the story is full of emotions and love, I was so captivated by this story that I wasn’t able to put it down once I started.
I just can congratulate Ms. Cosby’s debut and I can hardly wait to read her next book. For me she is a rising star in the world of medieval romances, definitely an author to keep an eye on.
