Linnet Greenbriar has come to the remote Alaskan Yukon River to do a job and hopefully get far away as men as possible. After a date-rape on her last job and breaking up with a boyfriend who didn’t believe her, her trust in men has gone down the drain. She’s surprised one day while catching salmon to see a handsome stranger walking towards her singing a song. Not long after, she’s almost falling into the river and into the arms of the handsome man. Creed only wanted some peace and quiet, but when he sees Linnet he changes his mind and appoints himself as her personal hero. But Linnet is a hard shell to crack and he’s going to need a lot of patience and every seductive trick in the book to win this girl’s heart. However, more visitors to the cabin, a brother, a father, a dog and a moose just might spoil all his well-planned fun.
First of all, I must warn the reader to keep some tissues nearby for the ending of this wonderful romance. I needed them. I was grateful that I had the time to read this book almost in one sitting because I was very hard pressed to stop once I got going. Ms. Reilly has written such a wonderful heart-warming story. Her heroine, Linnet is a troubled woman. After her experiences with men, she’s learned they are not to be trusted and are only out for what they can get. She doesn’t make it easy for Creed to get close to her although she is highly attracted to him. Creed is a wonderful hero. A real gentleman, he has his work cut out for him but he doesn’t give up. There are lots of secondary characters and a great plot that keeps you turning the pages. I felt like I was really there at the Yukon River. Well done, Ms. Reilly!
