Welcome to Cathryn Fox's guest blog

Welcome Ms. Fox to Love Romances and More, thank you for joining us.

Thank you for having me, Danny!

Did you always want to become a writer?

No. I graduated from university with a business degree in accounting and economics (shiver) and it wasn’t until I moved up north (population 800) and ran out of books to read that I tried to write my first novel. I always liked to make up elaborate stories when I was younger (although most of my friend preferred to call them BIG FAT LIES) So I think I had stories in me for a long time, I just didn’t know what to do with them.

What is the most, and the least interesting fact about writing?

I think the least interesting can be fact finding, the most interesting thing is I can put a bunch of words on paper and it ends up being a beautifully packaged book!

How did you celebrate your first release? What was it like to see your book in a bookstore? Do you have a special ritual for celebrating a book release?

We all went out to dinner to celebrate my first e-book release, and I bough two new lazy boy recliners to celebrate my first print book release. I still giggle when I see my books on the shelves, especially when I’m in another province, or country. It feels surreal.
I don’t really have a ritual, but no matter what we do, I think wine should be involved! LOL

How did your family react to fact that you also write romance novels? Have your family read your books?

My immediate family, husband and kids were thrilled and were so supportive as I struggled to get published. My sister is very supportive and does buy and read my books. My kids are too young to be reading my books! My husband enjoys them from time to time.

Most authors are also avid readers. Is this the case with you? If so, who are some of your favorites? Have any influenced your writing?

I have so many favourite writers. I honestly hate to list them in case I’ve left anyone out. I must give special gratitude to Lori Foster, however. She is such an amazing person and after I finalled in her Brava Novella contest she gave me great advice on where to go from there.

Your characters come to life in your books. Do you feel each of your characters live with you as you write? Do their lives sometimes take over a part of your life? Can you name an example? Do you have living role models for your characters?

When I’m elbow deep into a book my characters are ALWAYS with me. I’m always thinking about them, plotting their next scene, wondering if they are going to co-operate, or lead me down the garden path. They really do take on a life of their own. Sometimes when I’m finished a story, I find myself really missing the characters. Then I move on to the next book and those new characters eventually take over.

Where do you get the inspirations for your books?

Inspiration comes from all over. Movies, friends, community, grocery story. My mind is always going. Of course, my husband will tell you the inspiration for the sexy scenes come from him!!

Do you find it difficult at times to write love scenes?

What I find difficult is keeping the scenes different and fresh. As an erotic romance author, I write a LOT of love scenes and I want them all to feel new and fresh to my readers.

What is your favorite book from the books that you have written so far? Who are your favorite hero and heroine, and why?

Right now I’d have to say my favourite book is INSTINCTIVE. I JUST finished writing it and it’s my first paranormal with NAL HEAT (October 09) I love my hero Slyck. He’s an alpha shape-shifting panther and her just gets to me - on all levels – and makes me want to purr.

I think my favourite heroine is Sash, from Panther’s Pleasure, Ellora’s Cave Season of Seduction 3. She’s such a bad ass who doesn’t take crap from anyone, and it’s fun to watch how Kade, the alpha hero tames her.

Which book was the hardest to write and which the easiest?

Sun Stroked was the hardest because of the emotions involved. I think Peaches and Cream from Alluring Tales 2, Hot Holiday nights might have been the easiest because I had my heroine Jenn’s story inside my head for so long. I was just dying to get it down on paper.

If you could change places with one character from your books, who would it be and why?

I think at some point I wanted to be every heroine I ever wrote, because I always fall in love with my heroes! Every single one of them

Do you listen to music while you are writing and if so what music is it?

No I find it too distracting. I need complete and utter silence.

If you could choose of your books for a movie, which one would it be and who would you as the cast?

INSTINCTIVE for sure! I would choose Mark Wahlberg for the hero, and Eva Longoria for the heroine.

Congrats to your new release ALLURING TALES: Hot HOLIDAY NIGHTS, can you tell us about the book?

The holidays are heating up—with seven wickedly sensual stories guaranteed to spice up those chilly winter nights!

A determined lady comes home, burning for her girlhood crush—a sexy lawman who totes a big gun. . .

A creative ad man's passion is aroused when he sees his buttoned-up coworker in a revealing new light—dressed in sizzling red satin on a giant billboard. . .

A professional dominatrix wishes upon a star, and her fantasy appears—an insatiable alpha male in biker boots who's literally out of this world. . .

A tall, dark, handsome warlock finds himself obsessed with his "familiar"—a sleek and sexy cat-woman who turns out to be the purr-fect lover. . .

She was always hot for big brother's best friend—and now her erotic dream is here in the taut and tempting flesh. . .

A pair of fugitive lovers finds themselves warm and toasty in a sultry Caribbean paradise—and ready for some red-hot fun in the sun. . .

Are you working on anything right now, and can you tell us a teaser about these projects?

I’m just about to get started on IMPULSIVE, the sequel to INSTINCTIVE.

Here’s a blurb for Instinctive.

When bad girl Jaclyn Vasenty tries to mend her wicked ways, the last thing she expects to find in the quaint New Hampshire town of Serene is sex, secrets and…danger.

Jaclyn Vasenty, heir to her father’s multi-million dollar cosmetic business, loves sex. Kinky sex. Ménages. Voyeurism. Exhibitionism. BDSM. Everything. You name it she has a healthy appetite for it.

Too bad her wicked ways have gotten her into nothing but trouble, bringing scandal to her family’s name. Jaclyn knows with the threat of a corporate takeover, any more rumblings could scare the company’s already skittish investors.

Not wanting to be the downfall of Vasenty Cosmetics, she knows it’s time to be the good, respectable girl her family has always wanted, and her upper class community has always demanded. What better place to suppress her wild side and start fresh than in the small, gated town of Serene, New Hampshire. After all, what kind of trouble is she going to find in Serene, a community where everyone has white picket fences and two point four kids.

A hell of a lot more than she has expected, apparently.

From witches, werewolves, vamps, demons, and shape shifters, the quaint, tight lipped town is not at all what she has expected. And if she wants to make it out alive, she must draw on all her feminine wiles, and join forces with Slyck, a dangerous, cunning, thigh melting, shape shifting panther who just happens to be her mate.

Thanks Danny!
