Annwyl has spent a long time fighting her brother. She’s so good at decapitating and maiming her brother’s soldiers that she’s earned the name of Annwyl the Bloody. Not a name to inspire any romantic thoughts as most men cower when they see her or salute with respect. Still, it’s her life and she’s proud of it and she’s determined to keep fighting her brother until he’s deposed. But as fate will have it, Annwyl finds herself half dead in the lair of Feargus the Destroyer. A dragon who could wipe out a whole village with one breath. And, as fate would have it, the dragon is intrigued by this woman who shows no fear in his presence. Annwyl enjoys the company of the dragon as she heals and spends many pleasant evenings talking to him. When he arranges for a knight to teach her to better wield her sword she thinks she’s going crazy. This arrogant knight makes her body hum like never before and though she’d love to have a man to talk to, the dragon is that and more. When she finally meets the rest of Feargus’s family, Annwyl thinks life just couldn’t get any stranger.

This is really just my kind of story. I absolutely loved it and want more! G. A. Aiken writes a sensual, raunchy, action-packed story that is full of witty dialogue, snarls and growls. And it isn’t only the dragons snarling. Our heroine, Annwyl is a woman most men would run away from. Strong, tough, able to carry more than her own and expecting the same from her men. The men that don’t run away from her, love her in a very respectful way, they don’t want to part with any body parts. Feargus, for all his ferocity is a complete dear. I love how this author describes her dragons. You can really see them pondering and stomping around. I’m sure the reader would not be interested in the hot, dreamy, arrogant knight who gets Annwyl’s blood to boil in more ways than one. Beware, hot stuff! You are? Well, yes, he’s to die for! And full of him...I mean, full of his own surprises. I can’t rave about this story enough. And the reader has the added surprise of an extra story. You can read the love story of Feargus’s mother and father...another action packed, gritty tale that is delightful!
