The countdown to the end of days has begun and everything seems to be falling apart. The Nightkeepers are still scrambling to recover the prophecies, they are no longer a cohesive unit and they have discovered a new enemy who is always one step ahead of them. Unless the Nightkeepers want the game to be over before it was really began, they need to come together as a unit and get themselves another GodKeeper.
DAWNKEEPERS, the second book of the Final Prophecy series, centers around Nate Blackhawk and Alexis. They are definitely a case where opposites attract. They had been lovers but Nate refuses to buy into the destiny game and just the thought that Alexis might be his destined mate was enough to send him running in the other direction. Alexis believes wholeheartedly in the Nightkeepers and what they are doing. Sure she is still attracted to Nate but she refuses to allow that attraction to keep her from her destined place was the king’s advisor.
DAWNKEEPERS does a good job of carrying the story arc forward however it doesn’t have the tension of the first book, Nightkeepers. The pacing is smooth with great dialogue and the sparks between Alexis and Nate do a lot to redeem the story so I do recommend it to readers that are following the series. But be sure to read the first book otherwise you might end up wondering just what the point is. What kept going through my mind is that if the Nightkeepers are this world’s hope of a future then we are sure in trouble.
