When Eve Dallas looks at the woman lying in the midst of this new crime scene, she knows that this is going to be one of her worse cases yet—emotionally speaking, at least. Because this woman is another cop, and the girlfriend of a friend. She’s one of their own, and so is the man Eve has to tell his lover is dead.
But Eve and her husband Roarke soon discover that this death might well be related to their shared pasts—the fathers both of them have left behind. With good reason. Murder is nothing new to either of them. It runs in the family, whether they like it or not. The trick is determining who is guilty of what, and why.
One of the things I love most about the Eve Dallas books is how truly bad she is at the girlie things. In the midst of all of this excitement, Eve and Roarke are forced to pause to throw a couple of parties, a bridal shower and a bachelor party. While the men fly off to Vegas, the women stay behind to have a girl’s night. The experience is so alien to Eve she might as well be on another planet. But she tries.
These books are like the perfect blend of police procedural, science fiction, and romance. I have never been disappointed with any book in this series. The plotting is tight, the dialogue sharp, and the mystery always intriguing. You can’t lose with an Eve Dallas novel. Entertainment is guaranteed.
