Mallory is a travel writer and boy does she have to work hard. Free spas, free food, good hotels, oh yes, the life of a travel writer is very hard work. Now she gets to go to Aspen to find out how the other half live. There is maybe a chance for a little dating while on assignment. Her assignment is to find out what people can do who don’t like skiing. She meets a high school friend who seems to have really reached the top. Carly has a super exclusive spa that boasts the secrets of everlasting youth. When Carly turns up murdered in her spa’s mud bath, Mallory is thrown into the investigation and realizes that there are a bevy of suspects. It seems one of them is out to stop her.

This is a very entertaining story and Cynthia Baxter is one very clever writer. I really enjoyed reading TOO RICH AND TOO DEAD. She gives her readers characters that leap from the pages and a plot that will have you frantically turning those pages. The story is multi-layered and you will be double guessing until the end. You will also get the grand tour of Aspen and find out all the in places to go. Not to forget, there are plenty of smile moments in this story and Mallory gets to enjoy two men who are interested in her. So, if you enjoy travelling and a page turning mystery, pack your suitcase and join Mallory on a helter-skelter tour of Aspen. I have to now rush off and look up her back-list!
