Welcome to Tracy Cooper-Posey's guest blog!

Celebrate the Internet Today...and Eyes of A Stranger.

It seems appropriate to me that exactly 17 years ago today, the World Wide Web was born – although I’ll slip past the fact that it was invented in a nuclear research laboratory with my head averted.*

The reason I find this cutely ironic is that today Love Romances are allowing me to celebrate the launch of Eyes of a Stranger*, which is published by Cerridwen Press*. It’s an Emma Darcy Award winning contemporary romance that Romantic Times gave a 4-star review and said that “the emotions [she] wrung out of her characters were enough for me to keep turning pages to the very end.”

I guess that’s a fair description of the hell I put the hero through. David comes home to Seattle from three hard years work setting up a business in China, and meets a woman. Not just any woman, but the woman. The one that makes his heart stand still and his soul to break with one look into her eyes. Then he discovers she’s engaged...to his best friend.

You can get a sneak peak at the first chapter right now if you click on this link here.*(eyes link)

Which brings me right back to the conveniences of the web. Without the web, we wouldn’t be here. You wouldn’t be reading this. I wouldn’t have reason to write it. And I certainly wouldn’t have had a venue to publish the book.

Here’s another scary thought (for me): Without the Internet, I wouldn’t have met my husband. Hmmmm…..

I wouldn’t have moved to Canada twelve years ago, either. I wouldn’t have met dozens of readers and authors at the six or so Romantic Times conventions* I’ve attended over the years, or the hundreds of authors and readers I know on-line.

There’s a huge part of my life lived in cyberspace, because that’s where my friends are – friends that have the same interests as me, that share my passions and allow me to vent. And thanks to cyberspace, I’m still in contact with friends and family back in Australia, too.

How about you? How has your life been changed by the Internet?

Hi Tracy, the internet turned me on to ebooks about four years ago, and now I buy more electronic copies than paperback books. The author blogs and yahoo groups that I now belong to have been great fun, and I am always hearing about new books and authors to try.

Hi,

Yeah, the internet is GREAT!! I've met authors, made friends and if I'm just a day with my net I'm having deep withdrawals!!!

Nice to see you here.

Hi Tracy,
The internet has made shopping more convenient. I can buy groceries, books and clothes without leaving the house. Instead of picking up the phone, I find myself communicating more by sending emails which is less personal.

Well, without the internet, my to do list wouldn't be nearly as long! LOL! I wouldn't have two websites to maintain, and people would just have to contact me the old fashioned way...and wait for a response! But, I think one of the biggest ways the internet has changed things is it's made the world smaller. You can reach out and make friends with people that you wouldn't normally come in contact with in your physical world.

Yes, it has. I never would have found so many awesome authors or friends without the internet.

Hi Tracy! Will be writing you soon about your historcals!

Alot has opened so much for me with reading romance with the internet! After having come back to really reading more after my children were older a few years ago, I was able to find more authors and romance to read! I really found books to read by chance most of the time with romance. And to find really all these genres that I so wanted to find more of, especially historicals, was so great!

But too, since I'm deaf, it was very hard to communicate with my family and friends. I could use the TTY (Machine for the deaf) and use relay system to call but at that time, the relay system would often be busy and couldn't get my calls done. But once on the internet, the relay system bloomed! And I could use relay online to call hearing people (my family!) and its so simple now and easy! And fast! And I don't need the special device that broke so many times! But too email has done so much too! So for me, it helped my disability so much! Great question Tracy!
