But something about the two mercenaries that come and go from the cabin she watches has her taking a chance on them. Hunter and Jericho think love is a thing of their past until a curious cougar enters their lives and they are stunned to find out that inside the cougar lives a beautiful and timid shapeshifting woman. They may not have been looking for love, but it appears to have found them nonetheless.
Maya Banks’ AMBER EYES is an unusual romance story. First, it is a ménage and second, the ménage includes a shapeshifting cougar. There really isn’t much of a storyline here. This is a boys meet cougar who turns into girl of their dreams story. Naturally, there are a couple of bumps along the road to happiness and there is a small surprise at the end to tie it all together in a nice happy ending. Beyond that, not much. The heat level here isn’t even all that high. Of course, for some that may be a selling point. The storyline moved along at a nice pace, what little there was of one. The author tried to flesh out the characters, but for whatever reason, they just didn’t touch this reader, perhaps because there was no real danger or difficult situation to overcome. For this reader, the whole story just sort of fell short.
Paranormal ménage fans looking for a nice little love story without all the heat a ménage implies, may enjoy Maya Banks’ AMBER EYES.
