Nothing had prepared Claire for having a bundle of demon magic shoved into her, just as she is pushed thru a door to earth. Now she is running from two Atrika demons who jumped through the doorway and who want to kill her for the magic she is carrying. Not having been on earth since she was six years old, Claire is thought to be insane and is institutionalized. Finally able to send a message out using air magic, she is rescued from the hospital by the Coven but is now on the run with fire mage Adam Tyrell. They are trying to keep one step ahead of the demons while they figure out a way to rid Claire of the unwanted magic.

With WITCH HEART by Ms. Bast, we are thrust back into her intricate world of elemental witches, warlocks and demons. Ms. Bast’s characters will tug at your heartstrings and the nonstop action will keep you on the edge of your seat. This is one book that demands to be read in one sitting.

Claire is a paradox. She is like no other witch ever seen on earth in that she can draw upon all four elements and she is extremely powerful and wise in her use of magic. But at the same time, she is naïve and innocent. Readers are able to enjoy rediscovering such common things such as Twinkies and coffee as Claire tries them for the first time.

Adam is a man of deep emotions who has refused to let anyone get close since the death of his wife. He is the master of ‘no strings’ sex. But Claire touches him deep inside and he can’t help but feel that he is cheating on his late wife. Adam didn’t manage to save her but he is determined to save Claire. Whether he will be able to resolve this dilemma is up in the air as the demons are determined to capture and kill Claire.

WITCH HEART really is a top notch book that I would have liked to rate higher. However the blurb on the back that is supposed to give the reader a taste of the book was totally misleading. This threw me for a loop and made it difficult to get right into the story. So don’t read the blurb and pick up WITCH HEART for a enjoyable ride through wonderland.
