CLICK TO PURCHASE!Jaxi Daniels is on the bottom of the archeology totem pole. Stuck in a basement doing the jobs everybody else finds boring and a waste of their time. In between the low man jobs, she feeds an obsession about Mayan artifacts that belonged to a sex cult. When the phone rings and she hears the voice of the man she has lusted after for years begging her to go to Mexico, she is confused until she learns that her obsession might be coming to an end.
Conner Stone, an archeologist at the high end of the totem pole, is baffled when he is assigned to an artifact that was confiscated after a man tried to sell it on the black market. Unable to clearly identify whether or not it is authentic he calls in the expert, Jaxi. Will he be able to control the suppressed feelings or longing for Jaxi long enough for her to identify the artifact and be gone? Will they finally figure out they both had their heads in the sand or will the Mayan artifacts help them to figure it out?
LAID IN STONE was a good read, Elyssa wrote a great story. The characters were very well developed and easy to get along with. I could see their story, the love they have for their work and the love they have for each other. The excitement they felt when they discovered the one thing Jaxi had been looking for all those years. It is always wonderful to see a dream come true and even more wonderful to feel the excitement of the dream come true and be able to experience it with the character. The only problem I had with this story was the love scenes. Don’t get me wrong the sex was HOT, except when the climax was building and the author just dropped it. Kind of like when a DVD freezes at the best part. I knew when the characters Jaxi and Conner climaxed only because I was told, not because I was shown, but despite that little quirk, I would recommend this book to anybody.
