Olivia Bevelstoke has a new neighbor. The rumor that he may have murdered his fiancée has reached her ears thus she is intrigued by him. Harry Valentine, the new neighbor, finds himself being observed by a lady thus a new relationship begins.
This reader has always loved the books that Julia Quinn has written and this one is no exception. Olivia and Harry are well-developed characters that will sweep the reader into their story. Olivia is a woman who has not found a man worthy to marry. She has had plenty of offers as she is a beautiful girl but there is more to her than just a pretty face. At times, she is extremely funny and entertaining, especially when she spies on her new neighbor. Harry is not impressed with Olivia as he thinks that she is just another vapid debutante. His opinion changes as he gets to know her. In fact, Olivia and Harry’s thoughts about each other undergo extreme changes as the story continues. It was wonderfully entertaining watching it happen. This couple is determined not to like each other but they can’t help but do. These two characters have great depth to them and Ms. Quinn has truly given them “life” as we feel like they are real and not caricatures. We see them as they become aware of their feelings for each other and as they tumble into a full blown romance. They are a well matched couple and readers will be entranced by them. It was definitely magical to see the “light bulb” turn on and how they deal with it. WHAT HAPPENS IN LONDON is a first-rate page-turner as I finished it in one sitting!
