CLICK TO PURCHASE! The third book in Loribelle Hunt’s Delroi Connection series, STOLEN EARTH, presumably picks up where the second book, Leaving Earth, leaves off.
Britt Anderson is an ex-spy. She can definitely take care of herself. When she finds herself linked psychically to Barak Trace, a Delroi soldier, and he is kidnapped, it is up to Britt to get him back. Now Britt has to decide whether or not she wants to free herself of Barak once she has him back.
Hunt’s Delroi Connection series should probably be read in order, not as stand alone books. This reader has only read STOLEN EARTH thus far, but since it starts mid-story, it is presumed that reading the first two books in the series first, would give readers a better feel for who the characters are and what Britt’s motivation is for going after Barak in the first place. He has obviously tied himself to her psychically, but how this comes about is anyone’s guess from simply reading this book. Then we meet Barak’s family and the political intrigue begins. But again, having not read the first two books, how everyone fits into the book was confusing and disjointed.
The book moves at a good clip and the steam factor is high, but the story is ridden with questions that presumably the first two books in the series answer. This reader can’t recommend STOLEN EARTH as it is offered, as a stand alone book. It simply has too many gaps and fails to grab readers’ interest. Perhaps if the series were put together into one book, the excitement would build and the characters would develop and the storyline might be quite exciting. As a stand alone book, however, it simply doesn’t make the grade.
