CLICK TO PURCHASE! What would a gay Romeo and Juliet be like? What would happen if two different clans had an ongoing feud with one another? With SURF ‘N’ TURF by Scott & Scott you get all this and more with a fun romp starring Robert and Blakely. As well as two rival gangs in the best tradition of West Side Story, only better.

Robert breaks up with his long time partner and decides to spend the summer in Seaside, a gay resort town. Moving into his condo, he discovers he is on the side of town of the Meanies. Leather clad daddies who stomp through town and want to recruit Robert.

Blakely ends up in Seaside as a last resort job after he discovers his boyfriend cheating. His job is in the heart of the Queenies territory and they definitely want to recruit him to be a Queenie. The Queenies are a gang of bitchy, catty drag queens. Then at the opening dance of the season, Blakely meets Robert and the rest is history as they say.

This was a fun book to read. The humor and insight into the human psyche is delightful and the characters are wonderful. What the reader learns throughout the story makes it more than your average lighthearted read. However, there is nothing preachy about this story. Everything in it is done in a fun and interesting way. I rooted for Robert and Blakely to stay together and defy the rival gangs. I wanted them to discover the truth behind all the hoopla in the town. And, trust me, there is a lot. Plus, there were some great secondary characters that brought you more into the story. The owner of Aunt Shirley’s Porch was great as well as Jimmie, the undercover Anthropology student. The Meanies and the Queenies were filled with characters that brought the gangs to life. It is characters like all of these that give this book such a fun flavor. SURF ‘N’ TURF was an easy read and I would definitely recommend it to friends.
