Bradford Thorne wanted peace and quiet to write his new sci-fi book, the place, Colorado. He also wanted to get away from his abusive lover, Victor. Welcoming him to the ranch was the owner who was very easy on the eyes. His name, Sheelinn MacNamara and his trusty dog, Dingbat. Linn to all his friends, felt a strong pull of emotions when he met this young author. He didn’t understand it, neither did Brad. There were strong feelings of lust and want and this was the first time these two had ever met! Linn promised himself that he would never fall in love, never is such a strong word when you meet the man that will become your mate. Brad just wanted to get on with his life, he wanted to flee but Linn entered the picture and his heart!

I loved the flow of this book. Mr. Barnette has done an outstanding job of letting the reader inside the mind of both lead characters. The more they got to know each other, the more I wanted this story to go on. There is a vampire and shifters, which caused quite a stir in the book, such drama that kept me on the edge. The fight scene reminded me of Ali and Frazier, someone was going down and there is no coming back. Linn discovered that you can get a second chance at love and Brad learned that you can love again and not be abused. Loved flowed for them like the land that flowed with milk and honey. The love scenes in this book were hot enough to make me want to call 911, it sizzled like steak on a grill. What’s not to love when you have a great steak, you want it to last just like I wanted this book to! This book has several surprises in it, which kept me panting for my heroes to make it through and live happily ever after! I’m throwing my hands up for Mr. Barnette, HIGH COUNTRY is an awesome read!
