Melody Ann ‘Mac’ Croft is now making her way in the model world. She could just be America’s next top model. Her face is on a magazine on all the news stands and people are starting to recognise her. Inspite of her busy schedule, she gets to be wooed by movie stars and rich business men. She’s worrying about her weight and is practically starving herself to stay slim. Most of her shoots are exhausting and she’s working days. She needs an apartment closer to work, but she needs to persuade her Mom and Dad that it is the best thing. Poor Mac feels like she is running around in circles. Fortunately, she has some good friends and a few people who give her some very good advice. Mac needs to work hard but she also doesn’t want to forget who she is or where she came from. Being a super model isn’t all glamour as she is finding out fast.

In this second story about Mac, I must say I still like this girl very much. Although she is very young, she has a good heart and is mature, but the life of a model is slowly wearing her down. I enjoyed the conflicts Mac has to cope with. We watch her grow and learn. Carol Alt writes a story that is easy to read and is very entertaining. She continues with Mac’s adventures as she climbs the ladder of success. After reading this story, I personally would never want to be a model. It seems like too much hard work. Many of us can sympathise with Mac as she tries to keep her weight down, even if we don’t have stick like figures. I also liked a lot of the secondary characters in this story, especially, Theo. And I am certainly looking forward to, hopefully, the next book when we meet Mac. I would like to know more about the new man in her life. I think anyone who is seriously thinking of becoming a model should read these books, and those of us who dream of such things should read it also. After reading this book, I think I would like to pick up Carol Alt’s Eating Guides. I have a feeling they would be very interesting.
