WILD HEAT is a kick off to a new series by author Bella Andre and boy, is it hot and I am not just talking about the fires that blaze out of control either. Her main heroes are called Hotshots and are the sexiest firemen I have ever read about. I normally don’t pick up something like this but the story drew me in and had me wondering if Maya and Logan can ever forge a lasting bond while dodging a killer who is setting fires all over the place in Tahoe. Ms. Andre delivers a pulse pounding ride from start to finish and you get a sense of the characters emotions and vulnerability as well as meet some really hot firefighter Hotshots. I really enjoyed learning about the people who fight those massive forest fires out west and Ms. Andre definitely gives them some heat of their own. Ms. Andre delivers an emotional story that tugs on your heart and captivates you till the last page is read.
In WILD HEAT, we meet Maya Jackson, a woman who has lost just about everything in her eyes to fires and after a night in the arms of a stranger, she scurries away, determined to never breathe a word of it to anyone again. What she doesn’t get is when, six months later, she is a dedicated arson investigator and her case of the deadly wildfires has one suspect- Logan Cain, the man she had that unforgettable night with and she is about to face this stunning man again. Maya is a character that called to me. She was vulnerable, independent and very controlled in her emotions until the night she went to Tahoe and instead found a passion that hurled her out of its arms and running for her life. I really enjoyed how Ms. Andre got inside Maya’s head, trying to let the reader see and feel her emotions and layers that guided her to the path she was on when she met Logan again, this time as a person who can either exonerate him or get him thrown in jail and out of a job. Logan Cain is an alpha male, a leader of the local crew of Hotshots, firefighters that fight the deadly wildfires. When he lays eyes on Maya, he is blindsided by the fact here was his dream woman again and this time he was going to do what it takes to keep her. Logan is a delight; a hero who is alpha to the core yet vulnerable to the woman he loves and family he is trying to protect. I love how Ms. Andre delves under his gruff exterior to get to the heart and soul of both characters and by interacting with some wonderful secondary characters, this author delivers a spine tingling wild ride from start to finish.
If you enjoy a story about sexy and heroic firefighters, a mystery and a killer on the loose, then grab the first in this wonderful new series, WILD HEAT, from Bella André. I am looking forward to reading the next ones in the series and hope it won’t be long until I do.
