Hanna is not what Joe was expecting when he stormed over to the neighbors house to ask them to turn off the noisy obnoxious motorcycle that was threatening to wake up his sleeping children. She isn’t a man, first of all. Oh, yes, she is definitely all woman! Joe’s first impression on Hanna isn’t that impressive either. He is crabby, bossy and rude. But soon they both see a new side of each other. Hanna is good with his kids. And Joe is trying to overcome the death of his wife. There is always more to other people than what meets the eye. Maybe the Holidays won’t be such a sad time of the year after all.

I was laughing out loud when Joe got his first gander at Hanna. And her reaction to him was most amusing as well. This had to be the best part of this book, in my opinion. Hanna has a knack for setting Joe back on his heels. And the way that she interacts with Joe’s daughter Ruby was tender and endearing. Hanna becomes human and definitely feminine in these scenes.

While not a unique storyline, single father, hot new neighbor to stir the senses, it is still a worthwhile read. The writing is fast paced, doesn’t leave the reader yawning while waiting for the action to pick back up. The characters are well written and believable. However, it is not an earth shattering experience either. If you are looking for a nice way to spend a stormy afternoon, Sarah Mayberry’s HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS will certainly hit the spot.
