Vampire Glory St. Clair arrives home and realizes the human woman lying outside her door with her throat torn open is near death's door, causing type B trouble. She speed dials Jeremy Blade, the man who’d turned her into a vamp centuries ago. He’s her on-again, off-again lover and friend, and in a crisis, her only hope of help. Having never made a vampire, Glory is reluctant to bestow eternal un-dead bliss upon the mortal, but she can't let her die. After turning her she learns its Lucky Carver, a surgically enhanced loan shark enforcer with a loose mouth when it comes to vampire rules of discretion. Glory feels everything but lucky, when she receives blackmail threats from an unknown source. She’d been videoed while changing her, but Lucky's grateful, mobster daddy promises her a cool million to find his daughter's attacker. Luck’s needed, when multiple suspects emerge among the living and the un-dead.

I haven’t read the other books in the series but this one was loaded with laughter, suspense and hot sexual chemistry between the sassy Glory and her Highlander Hunk.
It would be better to read the series in sequence as there were names that intertwined from previous tales. The heroine has commitment issues, worries about big hips and her lack of height, but her attitude is well done and she’s a delightfully different vampire heroine. The characters are diverse, from the shape-shifting bodyguards to the vamps of all ages and interesting mortals mixed in. I really enjoyed the mixture of personalities, but the obsession with name-brand shoes, clothes and purses was a put off. There are many crimes to solve, like, who killed Lucky and who's blackmailing Glory? Will she settle down with Jerry or... It’s a darn good read, and fun.
