Welcome to Amber Skyze's guest blog!

Welcome Ms. Skyze to Love Romances and More, thank you for joining us.

It’s a pleasure to be here today. I appreciate you having me, Danny.

Did you always want to become a writer?

No! LOL I’m ashamed to say it, but I couldn’t stand the writing assignments in school. I always cringed whenever the teacher assigned us a story to write. Though I made up “dreams” and told my friends all about them.

What is the most, and the least interesting fact about writing?

I think the most interesting thing about writing is the freedom to have your characters do whatever you want. As a writer I can live vicariously through my characters. I haven’t found anything uninteresting about writing – at least not yet.

How did you celebrate your first release? What was it like to see your book in a bookstore? Do you have a special ritual for celebrating a book release?

My first release was the day after Christmas and the DH took me out to a nice dinner to celebrate. I don’t have any rituals for the book release, but for a new contract I reward myself with something new – a CD, pair of shoes, or a new outfit.

How did your family react to fact that you write romance novels? Have your family read your book?

HA! Recently my mother was bragging to my eighty-two year old grandfather that I’m a writer. She provided my pen name and he went home and researched me. He couldn’t believe his granddaughter wrote erotica. He asked my mother if I’d read the Bible lately! I was mortified my mother told him. Aside from my husband I don’t believe anyone in my family has read my books.

Most authors are also avid readers. Is this the case with you? If so, who are some of your favorites? Have any influenced your writing?

I am an avid reader. Currently I’m reading all my fellow authors.

Do you feel each of your characters live with you as you write? Do their lives sometimes take over a part of your life? Can you name an example? Do you have living role models for your characters?

My characters are constantly on my mind while I’m writing. They don’t “take” over my life, but they consume my thoughts.

Where do you get the inspirations for your books?

I get inspirations from music, television, snippets of conversations I hear and sometimes from my DH! ;-)

Do you find it difficult at times to write love scenes?

There are times when I just don’t feel like writing love scenes. I’m not in the mood or I have a headache. No seriously, if I’m not feeling a love scene I’ll put “insert love scene here” and move on.

Do you have a problem with deadlines and have you ever suffered a writer’s block?

I do suffer from writer’s block occasionally. Usually when I’m under deadline. But luckily I’ve managed to move past it every time and have yet missed a deadline.

Do you prefer stand-alone books or series (As a reader or a writer) ?

As a reader I love series. I’m reading Jessica Anderson’s The Final Prophecy. As a writer I just wrote my first 3 three book series. It was fun and I’m sure i’ll do it again in the future.

If you could change places with one character from your book, who would it be and why?

Oh that would be Reese Collins in Splashing Good Time. Two words – Pool Boy!

What is your favorite book from the books that you have written so far? Who are your favorite hero and heroine, and why?

Geez, I can’t pick a favorite. I love them all.

Would you like to give another genre a try?

I’d like to eventually try writing a paranormal. I just ventured into the M/M. My first one Wild Lickins will be out on Feb 19th with Aspen Mountain Press.

Which book was the hardest to write and which the easiest?

Splashing Good Time was the easiest. It just came so natural. The hardest has been Research Required my newly contract book.

If you could choose of your books for a movie, which one would it be and who would you as the cast?

That would be Heat Waves. I’d like to see Johnny Deep and Jennifer Aniston play the roles.

If you could travel through time to visit a special time period or famous person, what or who would it be and why?

Henry the VIII. I just find that time period so intriguing.

Do you listen to music while you are writing and if so what music is it?

I used to write to music. I’d listen to Godsmack and Distrubed, but now I have to write in complete silence or I get distracted.

Big congrats to your latest release, can you please tell us something about the book?

I’d love to! Ignited is a BDSM ménage.
Blurb:
Got Fantasies? Nikaya does. She longs to be loved by two men.
Nikaya is celebrating her birthday with a new Mustang. As she’s climbing the mountain in her shiny new car, a police officer comes out of nowhere. He pulls her over and treats her to a birthday spanking. With a sore butt and a burning need to orgasm, she’s whisked away to a cabin.
Braden and his best friend Hank have a few surprises up their sleeve for the birthday girl. They include whips, floggers, chains, blindfolds and more. They hope to make all her fantasies reality.
Three hot bodies, sex toys and a spanking machine are only the beginning for Nikaya.

Excerpt:
Nikaya floored the gas pedal as she climbed the windy mountain road in her new black Mustang. The beige plush leather seats caressed her legs. The Mustang, a gift to herself for her thirtieth birthday, roared up the hill with ease. Some might look at thirty as the end of having fun, a time to grow up and figure out where they were going in life, but not her. No, she knew exactly where she was going and the car was not some midlife crisis purchase. She looked at thirty like an awakening to a new decade—one that would allow her more freedom to explore who she really was.
With the top down she felt alive. Warm air blew her long sandy blonde hair away from her face. As she drove higher and higher into the mountain, blood pumped through her veins. She was free.
The sun dipped behind the mountain caps. Nikaya didn’t worry as dusk settled upon the town of Desmond Point. She knew the lay of the land like the back of her hand. She pressed the pedal slightly harder with her high-heeled sandal, gunning the engine on the desolate road. Her fire-engine red fingertips gripped the steering wheel. One wrong move and she could find herself flying over the side of the mountain, crashing on the rocky bottom. Adrenaline soared, her heart pumped wildly. She loved living on the edge, the thrill of adventure.
A quick glance in her rearview mirror alerted her to trouble.
“Shit,” she cursed, noticing the glare of the flashing red light. “Where did he come from?” The road had been virtually empty for the last two miles.
She slowed down and found a safe spot to pull over. Was this the right thing to do? The flashing lights weren’t on top of the car, they were inside. She’d read articles about crazies who liked to pretend they were police officers. They’d pull over unsuspecting women and then rape them. Could this guy be one of them?
She tapped her fingertips on the wheel, contemplating what she should do. Should she call and verify he was for real? Her cell phone probably wouldn’t get reception this high up the mountain. She couldn’t take off and leave him standing there, just in case he was a true officer.
Another thought popped in her mind. Would he give her a speeding ticket? A ticket was not something she wanted for her birthday. Maybe he would cut her some slack.
“Evening, ma’am,” the man said, approaching the car.
“Sir.” His sun-streaked brown hair fell haphazardly around his face. He wasn’t in uniform. He was dressed in black slacks and a short-sleeved white button-down shirt. The top three buttons were undone, exposing a small patch of dark brown hair. He looked more like someone who spent most of his days on the beach, rather than driving around in a police car. Another glance in the rearview mirror warned her he wasn’t driving a police cruiser. A shiver of fear passed through her as she gazed into the most astonishing blue eyes.
“Do you realize how fast you were going?” he asked.
She shrugged, indifferently.
“I’m gonna need your license and registration.” He leaned two muscular hands on the door.
He smelled of sun and sand.
Nikaya obediently dug through her purse, looking for the documents. Once she retrieved her license she handed it to him. “Look, officer, I didn’t mean any harm. I—”
“Step out of the car, ma’am.”
“Huh?”
“I said, step out of the car.”
“What is this all about?” Surely this could be handled from the safety of her car.
“Now.”
His stern voice prompted her out of the car.
“Hands against the car. Legs spread.”

Are you working on anything right now, and can you tell us a teaser about these projects?

I’m working on a BDSM story Dante’s Desire.
Dante is an artist who has lost his desire to draw until Addison comes along. She’s a neighbour who likes to undress and pleasure herself in her bedroom window, for his eyes only.

Thanks again for having me here today!

This book sounds incredibly hot and with it being winter I find myself reading more of these kinds of books. The steaminess of words is almost as good as a fireplace in keeping me warm.

Oh man, I can sooooooooooooooooo relate to hating writing assignments in school. They convinced me early on that writing was not for me. I loved reading but the way they had you pull books apart! Yuck!
