Welcome to Jennifer Haymore's guest blog

Welcome Ms. Haymore to Love Romances and More, thank you for joining us.

Thanks so much for having me!

Did you always want to become a writer?

Yes and no. I always wanted to write, but until I was an adult I never considered it a viable option for a career. I went through several other careers before I found this one.

How did you celebrate your first release? What was it like to see your book in a bookstore? Do you have a special ritual for celebrating a book release?

For my first book release, I went to every bookstore in a 100-mile radius, took pictures, and signed every book I could get my hands on. It was so exciting!

I don’t really have a ritual...I’m thinking I should definitely develop one for my future releases!

How did your family react to fact that you write romance novels? Have your family read your book?

My family is wholly supportive of what I write—but they rarely read my books, lol.

Most authors are also avid readers. Is this the case with you? If so, who are some of your favorites? Have any influenced your writing?

Yes, I love to read, but I’m a slow reader and I wish I had more time to do it. Some of my favorite historical romance writers are Laura Kinsale, Elizabeth Hoyt, Loretta Chase, and Lisa Kleypas. I really like reading in other genres, too.

Do you find it difficult at times to write love scenes?

Oh, no! I love writing love scenes. They’re some of the easiest scenes for me to write, and it’s fun to have my characters finally get together after butting heads for so long...

Do you have a problem with deadlines and have you ever suffered a writers block?

Sometimes I worry about deadlines, and I stress over them, but no, I’ve never really suffered from writer’s block. Somehow, when I get down to the wire, the words I need are always there.

Do you prefer stand-alone books or series (As a reader or a writer) ?

I love series both as a reader and as a writer. I love getting glimpses in the future lives of the characters I’ve grown to love!

If you could change places with one character from your book, who would it be and why?

I’d really love to be any of the members of the 19th century British aristocracy for a day...

What is your favorite book from the books that you have written so far? Who are your favorite hero and heroine, and why?

My favorite book is usually the one I’m currently writing, and my favorite characters are usually the ones in my head right now. If I had to choose characters from my two books currently on the shelves (A Hint of Wicked and A Touch of Scandal), I’d probably choose Kate and Garrett. Kate because she’s so alive and vibrant, and so inherently good; and Garrett because though he’s flawed, he’s the ultimate hero who will do anything and everything to protect those he loves.

Would you like to give another genre a try?

I’d love to write a young adult book someday!

Which book was the hardest to write and which the easiest?

I think A Hint of Wicked, my first book, was the hardest to write. I was new and learning, I think, and I was a little anxious about how readers would respond to it. Fortunately, they responded fairly well!

If you could choose of your books for a movie, which one would it be and who would you as the cast?

I’d probably choose A Touch of Scandal (because it has so much angst, passion, and action!) and casting it would be tough, but I’m thinking a young Brad Pitt into the role of Garrett and Anne Hathaway as Kate.

If you could travel through time to visit a special time period or famous person, what or who would it be and why?

This might sound esoteric, but I’d go back to the 15th century and meet the real King Richard III, and I’d learn the real story of the Princes in the Tower…

Do you listen to music while you are writing and if so what music is it?

I listen to an eclectic mix of music when I write. My iPod play list contains everything from rap to classical to show tunes…but I don’t really hear any of it when I get into the zone of writing. It’s just background noise that blocks out the rest of the world.

Big congrats to your latest release, A touch of scandal, can you please tell us something about the book?

A Touch of Scandal is my version of the Cinderella story. It’s the story of a young servant woman and the scarred Duke of Calton.

Here’s the blurb for A Touch of Scandal:

The last thing Garrett, Duke of Calton, expects to find while tracking his sworn enemy is the delectable, mysterious Kate. This beautiful servant girl rouses a longing the battle-scarred ex-soldier had never hoped to feel again. But when she turns out to be the sister of the man he seeks, he's convinced he's been betrayed.

Kate knows her duty to her family, yet how can she ignore Garrett's powerful pull on her heart? Or the heady temptation of his stolen-and sizzling-kisses? Scandal has followed the duke since the war. Now the greatest shock of all is on its way-the one that can separate Garrett and Kate forever.

Are you working on anything right now, and can you tell us a teaser about these projects?

I’m finishing up edits on my next book, A Season of Seduction. This is a sequel to A Touch of Scandal, and the story of one of the major characters in the series, Lady Rebecca. I’m really excited about this one! It’s set to release in October.

Contest:

I have A Hint of Wicked in my TBR pile, but now that I've read the blurb for A Touch of Scandal, I know who gets the girl in it. I still plan to read it before ATOS. I really liked the excerpt on your website. Sounds like Kate will kill him with kindness!
